Lamar Washington Lamar Washington 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State #128 Nation AZ , Jefferson – Ranked #1
Washington recently got in touch with us saying he’s a point guard but after some discussion we agreed on the term “point wing” for him. It works because while he certainly handles and passes like a point, his ability to get buckets in multiple ways makes him into a James Harden-type of player. Washington can bomb away from the outside or use his physical strength to get to the hole where he simply can’t be stopped. Similar to Jefferson teammate Nate Rawlins-Kibonge, the challenge for college coaches is if they can convince Washington to choose hoops over the high-major conference football offers he has already earned.
Devon Malcolm Devon Malcolm 6'4" | SF South Medford | 2022 State OR , Butte Falls – Ranked #5
We originally had Malcolm slotted in the top ten but that’s before we got a chance to see him in person. And when we did, we saw one of the most explosive and powerful athletes in the state. The 6-foot-4 sophomore doesn’t just get up to dunk it or block it, he dunks it or blocks it with authority. The consistency on his perimeter shooting is still in progress but he has pretty nice form and touch on his shot. Malcolm arguably has the highest ceiling of anyone in the Class of 2022.
Donatello Tupper Donatello Tupper 6'4" | SF Roosevelt | 2022 State OR , Roosevelt – Ranked #8
There’s a lot of smootheness to Tupper’s game. The lefty runs the floor like a deer, can handle it in transition, and finishes plays above the rim. At 6-foot-4, he’s long and lengthy and has a fairly nice touch on his jumper as well as a little floater in the lane. The key with him continues to be his consistency on a night to night basis and he’s been able to be a complimentary piece so far in his high school career. There’s no doubt the 2020-21 season will see him have more of a leading role for the Roughriders.
Dezman Baker Dezman Baker 6'3" | SF Mountainside | 2022 State OR , Mountainside – Ranked #13
Baker got significant minutes as a freshman and continued to grow his sophomore campaign. At 6-foot-4, he’s got great length and uses that to his advantage when finishing at the basket or creating havoc on defense. Baker is great at getting to the hoop and is just a consistent jump shot away from really being a threat on the offensive end. A good ball-handler he could have some potential to play some at the point too.
Christian Rowell Christian Rowell 6'7" | SF Lake Oswego | 2022 State OR , Mountainside – Ranked #14
Rowell largely played JV this past year but his his potential is evident for the future. At 6-foot-6 he has tremendous size on the wing, which is the position he’s most clearly comfortable playing. Rowell can catch and shoot lefty jumpers all day long and has some ball skills to create a bit off the dribble. The key with him remains his continued physical maturity and mindset to be able to use his height to help out inside on the boards and on defense.
