1) JALEN MILLER | BISHOP WALSH | OVERALL RANK: #9
Miller was the most consistent player for a Bishop Walsh team that was tested against stiff competition from all over the country. He’s a big point guard who defends multiple positions and handles pressure. Miller facilitates offense and has showcased improvements in his jump shot. He has a higher floor than most but still offers plenty of upside.
2) ELIJAH HAWKINS | DEMATHA | OVERALL RANK: #13
Many wondered what Hawkins’ role would be coming into this season. Needless to say, he exceeded the expectations of many and grew in his role as DeMatha’s starting point guard throughout the season. Hawkins applied relentless pressure on opposing ball-handlers every time he stepped on the court but also ran the team efficiently on the offensive end.
3) MICHAEL AIKEN | THURGOOD MARSHALL | OVERALL RANK: #23
Aiken remains one of the best-kept secrets in the DMV and a flat-out stud. He went toe-to-toe against some of the area’s top guards this year and more than held his own. It’s only a matter of time before Aiken earns the respect that he truly deserves.
4) ANTOINE JACKS | GOOD COUNSEL | OVERALL RANK: #41
There may not be a more improved player on this list over the last 6-12 months than Jacks. He was a very important player for Good Counsel, setting the table on both ends of the floor for his much-improved team. It will be interesting to see how much more he can improve moving forward.
5) COLE HANIN | BULLIS | OVERALL RANK: #45
Opportunities continue to grow for Hanin, and he has done nothing but continue to take advantage. With those opportunities, he continues to show that he is a true floor general who can make shots but also values winning and playing as a team. Defensively, there may not be a better guy at applying pressure on the ball or attacking 50/50’s.
6) GUY FAUNTLEROY | RIVERDALE BAPTIST | OVERALL RANK: #47
Fauntleroy finally got the chance to play in a high-usage role this season, and he thoroughly impressed with his ability to apply constant pressure on defenses with his paint-getting ability. He’s as fearless and tough a point guard as you will find in this area.
7) JAYLEN HALL | NEW HOPE | OVERALL RANK: #52
Hall is coming off his best high school season to date. As New Hope’s starting point guard, he logged massive minutes but his effort level did not waver. Hall was often seen applying pressure on the ball defensively, but also making shots and smart decisions while on the ball offensively.
8) JUAN BELL | PAINT BRANCH | OVERALL RANK: #67
Bell is coming off a productive junior campaign in which he averaged over 22 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals per game. He is a dynamic two-way lead guard prospect who still has plenty of room for growth.
9) KORDELL LEWIS | RICHARD MONTGOMERY | OVERALL RANK: #90
Injuries have somewhat hindered the development of Lewis to start the season, but he came on strong down the stretch for a sneaky-good RM team. As far as applying pressure on the ball and getting into the paint, there may not be a better guard in Montgomery County.
10) PHIL STUBIN | WALTER JOHNSON | OVERALL RANK: #94
Stubin did a bit of everything for Walter Johnson, averaging 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game this season. He is the type of point guard who is capable of scoring in bunches but also enhances the performances of those around him.
