The guard position is no different.
Here is a list of guys outside the top 5 at the guard positions that will be competing for those same college scholarships.
Jamarion Ryans Jamarion Ryans 5'11" | NA lbs | PG Hale County | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 5’11 PG, Hale County: What this prospects lacks in size he makes up for in speed, skill, and determination. He has a quick and nasty handle that consistently gets him space and more often than not leaves his defender looking silly. He sees no lines when shooting the basketball off the catch or off the dribble. He can really fill it up from deep and has explosive movements especially when getting into his shot off the dribble. He is a terror in the passing lanes with his speed and anticipation. The three-point specialist does such a great job at scoring the ball that he doesn’t get enough credit for his ability to find teammates. Definitely an underrated prospect.
Hunter Ivy Hunter Ivy 6'3" | NA lbs | SG Fairhope | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’2 SG, Fairhope: Arguably the best shooter in this class, the lefty has legit parking lot range. He has a smooth and quick release that is gone as soon as it touches his hands. He is one of those players who doesn’t need his feet or shoulders square like traditional shooters to get off quality shots. He has a very good mid-range game also with the ability to take and make difficult turnarounds including the Dirk/Kd one leg fadeaway. He needs to work on his lateral quickness on the defensive end of the floor because he has the size to be a good on-ball defender.
Tomar Hobdy Tomar Hobdy 5'10" | NA lbs | CG Enterprise | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 5’10 PG, Daleville: According to the rankings this kid is probably the most underrated player in the class. His ability to run a team is second to none. He can shoot it from deep, he can put it on the floor and pull up in the mid-range, or he can just blow-by and get to the rim. He is a very good passer with a unique ability to make tough passes. He is a reliable ball handler who handles pressure well and has a lot of creativity when it comes to breaking down defenders off the dribble. Also, a very tough and heady defender who makes defensive plays that pops off the screen each and every game.
Cole Millican Cole Millican 6'1" | NA lbs | CG Plainview | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’1 CG, Plainview: A scoring guard with the ability to put up big numbers each and every night. He can put it on the floor and get to the basket, he can shoot it from the mid-range, and he can stroke it from deep either off the catch or off the dribble. He needs to continue to get stronger which would allow him to not get knocked off his sport when attempting to beat defenders off the dribble. His body has filled out nicely over the last few years but with even more work in the weight room should help boost his game even more.
Eric Fuqua Eric Fuqua 5'9" | NA lbs | PG Lauderdale County | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 5’9 PG, Lauderdale County: A lightning-quick point guard who is an absolute bulldog on the defensive end of the floor. He is super quick in jumping passing lanes and is a total pest to post players who put the ball on the floor on dig down situations. He is explosive off the floor on his jump shot and can shoot it with extremely deep range. His quick-twitch motions allow him to blow by defenders on the perimeter and either pull up on a dime and shoot it or find open teammates. A leader on the floor that does a good job of controlling the pace of the game.
Emmanuel Henderson Emmanuel Henderson 6'2" | NA lbs | CG Geneva County | 2022 #NA Nation AL , 6’2 SG, Geneva County: A downhill player who has great speed and is hard to stop once he puts on the afterburners. His ability to either push the ball in transition or get out and run the wing with his speed puts enormous pressure on defenses. He is an improving ball-handler and shooter from the outside. However, with his jumping ability and a remarkably quick first step he is able to create separation and shoot over the top of defenders. A very good rebounder for his position who is physical and looks to bang on the inside.
