Its major value in those types of guys.
Here is a list of prospects who are currently flying under the radar who could soon be 1st class.
Luke Guyette Luke Guyette 6'1" | PG Huntsville High | 2021 State AL , 6’2 SG, Huntsville High: This guy is a walking bucket. His is a legit 3 level scorer who has a smooth effortless jump shot from well beyond the 3 point line. He is a relentless driver of the basketball who is hard to stop once he puts his head down and decides to get to the basket. He is a good passer with good vision and playmaking ability. One of those guys who should have college coaches radars constantly beeping.
Bo Barber Bo Barber 5'11" | PG Homewood | 2021 State AL , 5’11 PG, Homewood: A heady scoring point guard who is who does a great job of maneuvering through traffic in transition. He has good speed end to end with the ball in his hands and does a great job of finding teammates in positions where they can score. He shoots the ball very well from deep especially off the dribble which is a key skill when playing the lead guard position. Big things are in store for this prospect’s senior season.
Vincent Reeves Jr. Vincent Reeves Jr. 6'4" | SG Wenonah | 2021 State AL , 6’5 CG, Wenonah: This is a very good looking prospect! He is an extremely athletic guard who plays the game high above the rim. He has the ability to play either guard position at a very high level. He shoots it well from behind the arc or in the midrange. He has great elevation on his shot and has next-level passing ability. He handles the ball well enough to bring the ball up and initiate offense all while being able to break defenders down and get to the basket. His length at his position and ability to go to a level higher than his opponent is what really sets him apart.
Shun Sheffield Shun Sheffield 6'2" | SG Hoover | 2021 State AL , 6’3 SG, Hoover: This guy is probably the best athlete on the floor each and every time he laces them up. His ability to turn defense to offense in the blink of an eye and finish above the rim is something to see. His energy most nights is unmatched and has the potential to be a lockdown perimeter defender. He is a nightmare in the open court on both ends of the floor with highlight dunks and big chase-down blocks. He is also a very good rebounder for his position and an improving outside shooter.
Christian Bedgood, 5’8 G, Baker: Speed is the best way to describe this prospect. He is a terror to defend whether it’s off the dribble or having to chase off pindown and flex screens. A high volume shooter and scorer who (no cliche) scores from all three levels. Don’t let the size fool you he is explosive attacking the basket with the ability to finish over and through much big defenders at the rim. His crossover is deadly and his hesi game consistently freezes defenders which allows him the space he needs to either pull up or blow by whoever is in front of him. Look for big numbers and performances in this prospect’s future.
Jamicah Humphery, 5’10 G, Tallassee: Another high energy scoring point guard that can put the ball in the basket. He is deadly in what my dad would call the “Stop and Pop” or as we say today the “pull up” game. His skill to create space off the dribble and elevate and shoot over defenders is hard to defend. His first step is extremely quick and his ability to stop on a dime and change direction or pull up and shoot makes him a bummer to guard. He plays passing lanes very well and has very good defensive anticipation.
KJ Melson KJ Melson 6'0" | PG Danville | 2021 State AL , 6’0 PG, Danville: Shooters shoot and this shooter can really shoot the basketball. He is lights out in catch and shoot situations. His shot is textbook and falls much more often than not actually when he misses you’re shocked. His skill to put up multiple 3 point games consistently gives him major value. The evolution of his game will be the ability to score and shoot more efficiently off the bounce. But now he does what he does and does it very well and that’s shoot the basketball.
