In this series we dive into the 40 premier performances from the year that we personally witnessed. Here is our Top Performances We Saw This Season: #21 – #25!
#21 Jakobi Heady Jakobi Heady 6'8" | SF Hillcrest | 2021 State IL (Hillcrest)
Heady was in the PHI 2021 rankings after we saw him during the summer, but without question was way too low in them after what he did against a state title caliber Curie team. The lengthy combo forward did about everything you would want to see. He is a fluid athlete that got on the offensive glass for put backs. Slashed to the rim for slippery scores at the rim. As the game went on he got more comfortable shooting it drilling multiple from beyond the three point arc. Defensively he impacts with his length blocking shots and getting in passing lanes. Heady recorded 30 points and a ton of buzz on night one at Team Rose!
#22 Luke Cox Luke Cox 6'3" | SG Triad | 2020 State IL (Highland)
Cox is a 6’4” shooting guard that is a natural bucket getter. He opened up the Highland Shootout with a bang! The Triad senior came out firing and never stopped all day long! Cox connected on an array of threes to open up with a smooth and fluid release. He then began to score off the bounce. Quick and aggressive moves to the hoop. Pretty decent athlete that has crisp handles. Missed a few bunnies, but overall was fantastic scoring it. Also rebounded very well for a wing. He went for 31 points (12-29 FG) and 11 rebounds.
#23 Ramean Hinton Ramean Hinton 6'4" | SG Curie | 2020 State #181 Nation IL (Curie)
Hinton set the tone all season long for Curie and this was once again one of those games. It was Hillcrest at the Team Rose Shootout. The physical and high-motor wing is one of the most intense players out there on both ends of the floor. Strong slasher that finished well on passes in the paint on dump offs and crashing the offensive glass. Knocked down a couple jumpers and often got his offense started with his defense and rebounding. Just wills his team to wins! Hinton had 25 points and 12 rebounds.
#24 Ahamad Bynum Ahamad Bynum 6'2" | SG Simeon | 2021 State #94 Nation IL (Simeon)
Bynum is a microwave scorer who had it rolling at the Highland Shootout! He shot about as high of a percentage as we have seen in one of his high scoring games going for 26 points (9-14FG) (7-12 3 PT). His jumper was definitely on fire as he drilled pull up three after three. Such an explosive scorer that when he gets rolling like he was on Saturday night he is unguardable. Outstanding effort out of the DePaul commit!
#25 Brandon Lieb Brandon Lieb 6'10" | C Deerfield | 2020 State IL (Deerfield)
Lieb was not great in the first half in their regional final contest against Carmel. The top uncommitted post prospect in the state changed that real fast in the second half. This 6’11” center has tremendous size and a frame that he should be able to continue to add strength on moving forward. Early on he didn’t have his usual touch around the basket. Got it going in the second half with a couple of post moves and once he saw it go through the hoop it was on! Lieb threw down an array of big dunks on alley-oops or off put backs. Most impressive one was catching a bad pass on the move then maneuvering his body to slam it home. Did work on the glass too all night dominating the boards like he should have. Lieb finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds.
