I like to take a look at my annual “Top-5’s”.
Every player has their 1 skill they usually excel at.
It’s just a fun way to take a look at players’ elite skills in different categories.
We move over to the 6 players that have an elite feel the game. These are the players that almost have a sixth sense and just know what they are doing on a high level. Usually the smartest players on their team.
Here are my Top-5:
1. Nathan Calmese Nathan Calmese 6'2" | PG Mesquite | 2022 State AZ (Mesquite)
-One of the top feels for the game in the class changes speeds better than all sophs in AZ. He is athletic and can shoot it but doesn’t solely rely on any one thing keeping defenses off balance.
2. Mekhi Mason Mekhi Mason 6'4" | CG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State AZ (Chandler) (Pictured)
-Another smart PG can score it from all 3 levels and can play both guard spots. He consistently out smarts his opponents.
3. Orlando Gonzales Orlando Gonzales 6'0" | PG Leading Edge Academy | 2022 State AZ (St. Mary’s)
-A high feel for the game changes speeds and shoots it easily from deep.
4. Jake Lifgren Jake Lifgren 6'2" | CG Centennial | 2022 State AZ (Centennial)
-Somewhat pigeon-holed as just a shooter but when he got the opportunity he showed how smart he was and can play on or off the ball.
5. Easton Reagan Easton Reagan 6'4" | CG Desert Mountain | 2022 State AZ (Desert Mountain)
-A long baby-faced shooter uses his wits and skill to get it done.
1-more:
1. Jayson Redhouse Jayson Redhouse 6'0" | CG Buckeye | 2022 State AZ (Buckeye)
-A smart and skilled guard can also play both spots and is very crafty. He is consistently changing his speeds and finding open spots on the court.
