The 2020 group in Kenosha County is home to plenty of under-the-radar prospects that D3’s and junior colleges will want to know. Prep Hoops Wisconsin breaks down seven seniors with the potential to play at the next level.
Jyon Young Jyon Young 6'1" | CG Kenosha Tremper | 2020 State WI (6’2 2020 G, Kenosha Tremper)- Likely the top player in this group, Jyon had a huge senior year for a Kenosha Tremper team that surprised many in the SEC. Capable of playing either guard spot, Jyon averaged 21.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per contest. Jyon showed that he can knock down outside shots consistency, weave through defenses to get to the rim, and has the explosiveness to finish with power above the rim. A real fluid ball handler, Jyon is extremely difficult to stay in front of, and is a creative finisher who makes impressive lay-ups look routine.
Maxwell Glass Maxwell Glass 6'4" | PF Kenosha Bradford | 2020 State WI (6’3 2020 F, Kenosha Bradford)- Though he doesn’t have traditional height as a forward, Max has the size and strength to body opposing players in the paint. He can back players down and power through contact to finish at the rim, but is quick on his feet and has a point guard ball handling ability. Glass can step outside and create his own shot off the bounce, and knocked down 3’s at a 35% clip as a senior. I’ve seen Glass make defenders fall with his handling, spot up for threes, and back down players from the high-post, showcasing his versatility as a prospect. Max averaged 15 ppg scoring in all types of ways, along with 7 rebounds and 1.8 steals a contest.
Jake Gross (6’4 2020 W, Kenosha Tremper)- Another big reason for Tremper’s success this season was the progress of Jake Gross on the wing. A strong player with good size, Jake was knocking down 3’s in bunches all season long. Jake was a first team all-conference performer in the SEC after scoring 19.6 a game while pulling in 8.8 rpg as well. During the playoffs Jake took his game to another level, averaging 25.3 ppg in three wins before Tremper’s season was cut short after the sectional semi-finals.
Jeremiah Suber (6’1 2020 G, Kenosha Indian Trails)- A three year varsity performer, Jeremiah’s play took a step up during his senior season. Jeremiah has a smooth look to his game, able to glide to the hoop for some tough finishes. When going up he does a good job of keeping his chin at the rim to finish through contact, and he goes up controlled to avoid charging. Suber is also a confident shooter from outside, and has no problem looking to take over a game with his scoring. In his season opener he knocked down three straight threes to finish the game in an 87-86 win over Milwaukee Bay View. Suber averaged 14.8 ppg as a senior.
Da’Quantae Sawyer (6’ 2020 G, Kenosha Bradford)- Da’Quantae Sawyer had a strong senior campaign for a well balanced Bradford squad, averaging 11.3 ppg to go along with 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. A physically strong guard with a great first step, Da’Qauntae excels at getting to the basket and finishing around the rim. In transition he’s explosive enough to get up above the rim, and when driving to the hoop he can hang in the air for some crafty finishes. Off the dribble he does a good job of keeping his eyes up to find cutting teammates, and has a knack for making impressive passes look routine.
Zayshan Coleman (6’5 2020 F, Kenosha Tremper)- Though still a raw prospect, Zayshan is a solid rebounder and post defender who has long arms and explosive athleticism. Coleman was mostly used for his defensive abilities with Tremper, averaging 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. He does a great job at standing his ground on the block, and going up straight to avoid fouling when contesting shots. Offensively he has soft hands to receive in scoring position under the rim, fights for second chance points, and runs the floor hard for transition buckets.
Jashon Lee (6’5 2020 F, Kenosha Bradford)- An absolute bruiser in the post, Jason Lee had a breakout season for Bradford this year. Just about doubling his scoring averages from his junior year, Lee scored 15.2 ppg while adding in 6.1 boards and 2 steals a contest. With his size and strength he was hard to stop going at the basket, but is also light on his feet which allowed him to guard on the perimeter. Though not a great shooter, he can knock down the open three which forces defenders to step out on him.
