Please check out the link above if you missed part one of the 2021 small school stars. The second half of this list is filled with interesting next level talent and state champions. This was a group that I was excited to get a closer look at during the summer, and hope I still get a chance to. Here are the top 5 prospects in the class of 2021 from small schools to keep an eye on.
5. Brad Bennett Brad Bennett 6'1" | CG Elkhorn Mount Michael | 2021 State NE – 6’1 – Combo Guard
Bennett is a smart player and one of the best shooters in his class. He has range well beyond the college three point line. Bennett focused on his duties as a ball handler and distributor and took almost 100 less shots in his junior season as he did the year prior. He averaged 11.4 ppg, 2.3 apg, 3.7 rpg, and 1.4 spg during his junior season.
4. Charlie Fletcher Charlie Fletcher 6'1" | CG Omaha Skutt | 2021 State NE – 6’1 – Combo Guard
Fletcher has one of the purest jump shots in the state. He has great balance and lift coming around screens or as a set shooter. He can also get out in transitions or attack close outs with the dribble. Fletcher has good footwork on the interior on spin moves and step throughs to score at the rim. His versatility off the ball was key to Omaha Skutt’s Class B state championship.
3. Kaleb Brink Kaleb Brink 6'4" | PF Elkhorn Mount Michael | 2021 State NE – 6’4 – Power Forward
Brink is a long and agile traditional post with patients and skill on the interior. He works to get deep positioning and find space around the rim to score efficiently and rebound on both ends of the floor. He isn’t shy to work on the interior, but has shown some shooting touch from deep. Brink averaged 15.4 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.2 spg, and 57 FG%.
2. Lucas Vogt Lucas Vogt 5'11" | PG BRLD | 2021 State NE – 5’11 – Point Guard
Vogt has led his team to back-to-back undefeated seasons and Class C2 state titles. He is a crafty ball handler that can size up defenders and create for himself at the rim or in the midrange. He has touch and vision for interior passes to the post or kick out passes when help defense comes to stop his dribble drive. When Summer basketball returns, Vogt will have interests from schools at every level.
1. Cam Binder Cam Binder 6'0" | CG Auburn | 2021 State NE – 6’0 – Combo Guard
Binder led his team this season to a perfect record and a Class C1 state championship. This is Binder’s second state title in as many seasons. He is a playmaker and shot creator that attacks the basket looking to score. He can knockdown three point shots with range off the catch or the dribble. Binder has the strength, ball skill, and scoring ability to play either guard position. He recently picked up offers from Briar Cliff, Doane, Peru State, Cocordia, and Hastings.
