This is going to be an exciting bracket all the way through. Now that one round is in the books, it is time to look at the top performers from the first set of games.
Gavin Shiver Gavin Shiver 6'0" | SG Bordentown | 2020 State NJ (2020) | Bordentown
Jordan Martin Jordan Martin 6'2" | PG Bordentown | 2020 State NJ is usually the catalyst on Bordentown but round one belonged to Shiver. It was an 80-49 win for Bordentown led by 33 points from Shiver. He was able to get it going from deep. He finished with seven three’s in the win. Shiver offers an elite second option which will be extremely valuable for Bordentown moving forward in the tournament.
Geoffrey Schroeder (2022) | Rumson-Fair Haven
Rumson picked up the smallest upset possible in a 16 team bracket. They took down No. 8 Johnson Regional led by Schroeder. The sophomore got hot early scoring 26 points on four three-pointers. He was also able to get inside and draw contact to pick up some easy points from the free throw line. He was the lone Rumson player with 20 or more points.
Kalleem Lambert Kalleem Lambert 5'10" | SG Hillside | 2020 State NJ (2020) | Hillside
Lambert turned in a complete game during Hillside’s blowout victory over Delaware Valley in round one. He hittwo three’s and scored 10 of his 22 points from the free throw line. Lambert also led Hillside with five assists and six steals. This was a game where he made it look easy on both ends of the floor.
Toriano Munford Toriano Munford 6'5" | SF Lincoln | 2021 State NJ (2021) | Lincoln
Munford has been a threat all season for Lincoln and it was no different in this game. The 6’5 forward was able to get comfortable on the post scoring easy baskets all night. He finished with 22 points and added two assists, a block, and a steal. Munford is a player that can do it all and he certainly did that on Monday night.
Samnuel Noel (2020) | Roselle
It was a close victory for Roselle in round one over Raritan. Noel made sure that his team was going to move on. He scored 20 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had three steals in the victory. Noel knocked down three shots from deep in this one and had the ball in his hands late in the game. He is an outstanding free throw shooter and that allows him to ice games away which he did in this one with 11 free throws.
Jahmere Glover (2020) | Newark Collegiate
Glover is the lone player on the list who did not advance in the tournament. Newark Collegiate scored 41 points in the game and Gloverhad nearly half with 20. The 6’6 forward battled with Munford all night and was able to gain positioning of his own. Glover scored easy baskets down low throughout the game but it was not enough for his team to advance.
