We have entered an era of basketball in which just about every player is at least capable of making a three-point shot. That said, there will always be a select few whose shooting ability is on a different level, and I think these prospects fall into that category.
Here are five of the best shooters I saw this season:
Donald Ghostone Donald Ghostone 6'7" | SF Grand Prairie | 2020 State TX – 2020 6’7 Small Forward (Texas Legions Elite) Grand Prairie HS – The Texas A&M-Commerce commit possesses great size which allows him to be unaffected by closeouts. I got to see him knock down four threes in Grand Prairie’s much-anticipated matchup vs. a tall and long DeSoto team late in the season. Ghostone is an efficient shooter who can shoot from numerous spots behind the arc.
Ryan Agarwal Ryan Agarwal 6'7" | SF Coppell | 2022 State #99 Nation TX – 2022 6’6 Shooting Guard/Small Forward Coppell HS – Agarwal is a pure jump shooter who can hit from anywhere on the court. He has excellent range. His ability to hit shots on the move is what separates him from other good shooters. His shot mechanics are beautiful as well. This kid is virtually unstoppable once he gets in a groove.
Keyonte George Keyonte George 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2022 State #4 Nation FL – 2022 6’5 Shooting Guard Lewisville HS – George can get it done in a variety of ways on offense, but his shooting from the outside is one of his best attributes. He is a tremendous three-point shooter from the catch. The No. 1 ranked player in our 2022 rankings can drain the triple in half court sets or in transition. Additionally, he excels at getting open off the ball which is an underrated quality for young shooters.
Rylan Griffen Rylan Griffen 6'5" | SG Richardson | 2022 State #72 Nation TX – 2022 6’5 Shooting Guard Richardson HS – Griffen is an absolute sniper from beyond the three-point line. He had several brilliant shooting performances in the regular season and playoffs this year. He is a fearless jump shooter who can hit tough contested shots off the dribble or from the catch and has a knack for making big-time threes in late game situations. The 2022 prospect is a special talent.
Drew Steffe Drew Steffe 6'6" | PG Frisco Memorial | 2023 State #122 Nation TX – 2023 6’3 Combo Guard Frisco Memorial HS – Steffe has a remarkably well-rounded game at both ends of the floor. His marksman skills are no exception. He isn’t afraid to let it fly from deep but also never forces up bad shots. He can be effective from mid-range too. Steffe had a great freshman season for Memorial and will continue to develop and grow as a scorer in the coming years.
