Today we give you our list of point guards college coaches should know, in Minnesota’s junior class. Players that would be competing on 17u teams with some of the best teams on several different circuits.
Attention High Major Programs!
Hercy Miller Hercy Miller 6'3" | PG Minnehaha Academy | 2021 State MN – a 6’3 guard from Minnehaha Academy and Grassroots Sizzle.
Comparison – This is a bit odd but stay with me, when I saw Hercy hit the big threes against Eden Prairie and attack spaces quickly with pull-ups and floaters I thought about Amar Miller’s offensive aggressiveness and quickness in attack years back. Of course Hercy is about 5-6 inches taller so he has more of a Losini Kamara (Park Center grad) frame, and if you combine those things you have a talent. Has offers from USC, UCLA, Missouri, and Western Kentucky.
Why Hercy Over Others? Right now Miller has the best combination of size, quickness, and playmaking in the state (among lead guards).
Attention D1 & D2 Programs!
Bryce Lance Bryce Lance 6'3" | PG Marshall | 2021 State MN – a 6’3 guard from Marshall and Southwest Minnesota Stars.
Comparison – It’s unfair to go this way but Bryce has the same approach and agility that his brother Trey did before taking over QB at NDSU. The thing about Bryce is that he has a jumper that he makes with a higher percentage and better lift, and similar playmaking. Lance may have been relied on by Marshall for a bit more at a younger age.
Why Bryce Over Others? Bryce has the needed size, is the type of athlete NDSU offers a footballs scholarship, and he’s a smooth playmaker that can lead a team in scoring with few shot attempts while also distributing in a way a winning team needs.

Ryan Dufault Ryan Dufault 5'11" | PG Waseca | 2021 State MN – a 6’0 guard from Waseca and Minnesota Heat.
Comparison – I watch Ryan and I think of Bryce Irsfeld who played at Browerville and at Minnesota State-Moorhead. Bryce is a high IQ, tough player that I thought could of been taken at the low major level and so far he’s been excellent for the Dragons. Ryan is similar.
Why Ryan Over Others? Need a big shot Ryan will take it and often make it willingly. Need a leader that others will follow? That’s Ryan. He will round up his team any time of the year to get them to anything. Hard nosed trusted player.
Kody Williams Kody Williams 6'0" | PG Wayzata | 2021 State MN – a 6’0 guard from Wayzata.
Comparison – When I first saw Kody my thought was Vinard Birch, a former Eastview guard that was very good throughout his career as a defender. Williams is also similar in strength and size to Birch.
Why Kody Over Others? Kody will be well educated from a good coach and a good program that plays a high level of competition. He will be a strong defender that should be able to run a scholarship team.
Joshua Strong Joshua Strong 6'0" | PG Champlin Park | 2021 State MN – a 6’0 guard Champin Park and Minnesota Heat.
Comparison – In watching Joshua I see a player that is hard working and dedicated to make a smart play each possession but also has a game that at times has reminded me of Charlie Jacob who was at Totino-Grace a few years back.
Why Joshua Over Others? Strong is a high character, hard working lead guard that cares little about stats and mostly about winning games no matter what is asked of him. And Strong scored a 35 on his ACT which should excite high academic programs.
