We have entered an era of basketball in which just about every player is at least capable of making a three-point shot. Even big men have developed into above-average shooters. That said, there will always be a select few whose shooting ability is on a different level. I think these prospects fall into that category.
With that in mind, here are my selections for the DFW all-shooters team:
Guard
Vinny Sigona Vinny Sigona 6'1" | PG Prestonwood Christian | 2022 State TX – 2022 5’11 Combo Guard (YGC36) Prestonwood Christian Academy
Sigona has a great pull-up jumper. He excels at shooting off the dribble from mid-range and behind the arc. His handling skills allow him to set himself up to fire from anywhere. He does a good job of utilizing screens and creating just enough space to get a good look from the field.
Guard
Keyonte George Keyonte George 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2022 State #4 Nation FL – 2022 6’5 Shooting Guard Lewisville HS
Anybody who has kept up with Prep Hoops Texas knows that we all think very highly of George. His abilities as an all-around scorer and defender are well documented here. I was always impressed with how he rarely settled for contested threes. He takes high percentage shots from distance and thrives in catch-and-shoot scenarios due to his consistent shot mechanics and great off ball movement.
Guard
Rylan Griffen Rylan Griffen 6'5" | SG Richardson | 2022 State #72 Nation TX – 2022 6’5 Shooting Guard Richardson HS
Griffen is a sniper from three-point land. His aptitude for draining contested jumpers is remarkable. It makes him one of the most dangerous shooters in the state. He elevates high and never lets defenders phase him when they are closing out. This guy is going to fly up the rankings everywhere if he has two more seasons like his sophomore campaign.
Forward
Jaylon Tyson Jaylon Tyson 6'6" | SF John Paul II | 2021 State #66 Nation TX – 2021 6’5 Small Forward (Method Academy) John Paul II HS
Tyson does a lot of things at a high level, and his three-point shooting is no exception. The junior wing has a confident all-around game at both ends which carries over to his deep shots. He is virtually unstoppable when he starts drilling triples. It’s pretty much game over once he gets into a shooting rhythm because he can attack defenses in a multitude of ways.
Forward
Ryan Agarwal Ryan Agarwal 6'7" | SF Coppell | 2022 State #99 Nation TX – 2022 6’6 Small Forward Coppell HS
Agarwal possesses a diverse assortment of jump shots. He has deep range, but my favorite thing about his game is the variety of shots he can hit from mid-range. Forward pivots, turnarounds, and fade-aways from the baseline are just a few of the moves in his arsenal that he can deploy at anytime. He is one of those shooters who can kill you all game long if you aren’t keyed in on him from the opening tip.
Forward
Reese Smith – 2020 6’7 Power Forward Hebron HS
I only wanted to include players that would be returning for another season of high school ball, but I made an exception for Smith because he is criminally underrated. He was an incredibly efficient shooter for Hebron as a senior. The stretch four is lights out from the catch. Smith is certainly capable of playing at the D2 or D3 level with his combination of size and shooting ability.
