Last years best backcourt won the 6A State Championship. Let’s take a look at next years best. Also, looking forward to watching all those that we missed as well.
Corner Canyon: 6’3 Trace Ross Trace Ross 6'3" | PG Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT & 5’9 Phil Harris Phil Harris 5'8" | PG Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT
Phil is low and compact and strong. He pushes the ball up and finds open players in a hurry. Corner Canyon also has some young guns that will be inserted in the line-up that can also play. Trace will be the one creating from all over the court. Corner Canyon could be back in business next season.
Pleasant Grove: 6’0 Jordan Ross Jordan Ross 6'3" | PG Link Academy | 2023 #132 Nation MO & Dylan Jones Dylan Jones 6'6" | SG Westlake | 2022 State UT
Excited to see this team next year as it has gamed some experience. Both players can create and score. PG also has some young guns that will display their talent as well. The backcourt in PG will be solid for years to come.
Kearns: 6’0 Paul Wanthi & Iv’Rson Lavizzo Iv’Rson Lavizzo 5'10" | PG Kearns | 2022 State UT
I do not think there is a faster backcourt in the state with these two running the show. This double point guard set will have defenders skating. Look for them to push the tempo and bring back that electric Kearns style of play next season.
Lehi: 6’2 Noa Gonsalves Noa Gonsalves 6'2" | PG Lehi | 2021 State UT & 6’5 Tyson Hawkins Tyson Hawkins 6'4" | PG Lehi | 2021 State UT
Coyl dpossibly be the best backcourt in the state because they are both high quality scorers that do not rely on one shot or play. They can both create for each other and themselves. They will breaking in a new coach next season. They should be one of the most fun teams to watch next season.
Timpview: 6’0 Jaxon Santiago Jaxon Santiago 6'0" | SG Timpview | 2021 State UT & 5’10 Coleman Ford Coleman Ford 5'10" | PG Timpview | 2021 State UT
With Coleman Ford Coleman Ford 5'10" | PG Timpview | 2021 State UT controlling the tempo and Jaxon running the wing this par of backcourt mates keeps pressure on defenses. With Coleman able to distribute yet hit big shots from all over the court he also feeds his post. Jaxon is unselfish and has range. Timpview could make a run as they are deep at many positions and solid in the backcourt.
Dixie: 6’4 Issac Finlinson & 6’1 Ethan Jones
Probablie one of the most underrated duo in the backcourt in the state. Simply because they play in the South and they play in 4A. These guys can play with anyone. Isaac is a smart player that doe sit all. He is long as well. Ethan finds ways to score as well.
Murray: 6’4 Chudi Anosike Chudi Anosike 6'5" | CG Murray | 2023 State UT & 6’0 Kyle Ross
The reason this backcourt is so dangerous is because it is also interchangeable with the young talent that Murray has coming up. Kyle can shoot the ball and another player that finds himself in the backcourt that can shoot the lights out is Jaxson Workman. Chudi is a versatile player that can score in bunches with strength. Look for Murray to make a jump this next year.
