Region 5 Champion Woods Cross graduates 7 seniors and will be in a rebuilding year with only a few players coming back that saw significant action.
Farmington is in a good situation as they return a young talented player in Colin Chandler and a mix of other players but Truman Hendry Truman Hendry 6'7" | SF Farmington | 2021 State UT will be another piece that will help Farmington battle for Region Championship.
Bountiful graduates a lot of pieces but they have Robert “Boi Boi” Whaley coming back. Not too many guys are going to be able to stop him as he is just a bully on the block. Bountiful had some players that will need to make a transition from JV to Varsity in a hurry if they want to make a run at region.
With 11 players returning for Bonneville this looks like it could be a year for them to really assert themselves in 5A. They played hard and surprised some teams last season in region but they will have to do a lot more to compete. Jordan Citte has experience and can really shoot the ball. He hit 50 three-pointers last season and he will need to increase that.
Box Elder has an impressive prospect in 6’7 Parker Buchannan who is just a big kid that has skill. He is an athlete. He will bring his 16 points a game back. Look for Box Elder to really make a jump in improvement this next year.
Viewmont has averaged about 10 wins in the last 4 years and they’re coming off of a 7 win season. There will be a lot riding on the teams success with Brash Emery Brash Emery 5'9" | PG Viewmont | 2021 State UT a 5’8 guard that will need to come up big.
Woods Cross is going to be near the bottom with a lot of players leaving because of graduation. Players like Keigan Phung Keigan Phung 6'4" | SF Woods Cross | 2021 State UT , Mason Bendinger and Easton Guevarra Easton Guevarra 6'6" | CG Taylorsville | 2023 State UT will need to make a significant jump to help Woods Cross be competitive. They will need to develop a lot of players.
