Both schools mentioned loose key players that are absolutely irreplaceable. The team that will return notable players is Layton High School who not only returns two Division 1 talents but they return size. There is a lot of good coaching in Region 1, so we look forward to how each team will perform.
The team that should make a jump in the region will be Weber High School. They return a mixture of young talent and experience. They also have some size as well.
Roy High School might be able to move up a bit to improve their playoff stock as the rest of the pack will battle for wins.
On paper it looks like the Layton Lancers will be out in front in this region mainly because they return Ethan Potter Ethan Potter 6'8" | SF Layton | 2021 State #194 Nation UT and Preston Squires a front-court that will be a tough task for anyone to handle. In a big jump we can see Weber in the mix but in a close second as they have a pair of players that can surely play. Cannon Devries Cannon Devries 6'0" | PG Weber | 2022 State UT and Quinn Bennet Quinn Bennet 6'6" | SF Weber | 2021 State UT t who will be a great combination inside and out.
Roy High School could also make a huge jump from last year as they have long time point guard Kobe Schriver entering his senior year along with Mason Thueson and a few other players that will provide scoring. Syracuse will be lead by Connor Saunders who will be their primary scorer. With quite a few teams down due to graduation it puts Syracuse in the middle of the pack along with Davis who will have a young player in Rex Sunderland Rex Sunderland 6'4" | PG Davis | 2022 State UT leading the way.
It appears that Northridge and Fremont will be closer to the bottom of the region based on what they have coming back. Sam Suviluch of Northridge is the only player on their roster returning that seemed to have a scoring impact.
