The 6’4″ Love concluded a brilliant career by leading the Cadets to a Final Four berth in the Class 5 state tournament. His quest to end his career with a state championship was halted when the Final Four was cancelled due to the outbreak of the COVID-19.
In his final high school game, Love scored 24 points to lead the Cadets to a 62-53 victory over Francis Howell in the state quarterfinals at Francis Howell Central. Love reached another milestone in the victory as he surpassed the 2,000-point mark. He finished his career with 2,009 points.
For the season, Love averaged 27.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 44 percent from the field, 35 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the free throw line. He had a string on three consecutive 40-point performances in late January to lead the Cadets to victories.
For his efforts, Love was selected to compete in the McDonald’s All-American, making him the second Cadet to earn that honor. The first McDonald’s All-American from CBC was Larry Hughes in 1997. Love was also selected to compete in the Jordan Brand Classic in New York and the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland.
Love signed with North Carolina, where he will be part of one of the nation’s top recruiting classes in 2020.
