With the grassroots season in doubt this group of play making guards would have been high on my list to evaluate. This particular group would most likely be point guards at the next level. They all have shown the ability to score points. Some play the combo guard position with their high school team. There’s the possibility that a few will add more inches.
Jordan Pope Jordan Pope 6'1" | PG Prolific Prep | 2022 State #194 Nation CA-N 6’1 Guard Prolific Prep (Napa CA)
Jordan is listed as a top point guard in NorCal class of 2022 had a productive Sophomore season playing at the prep school. A solid prospect who is showing he can be a facilitator. No flash but does have a certain flare to the way he plays. He has good court vision, sees and sets up teammates with good passing. He has deep range on his three and is consistent.
Ameere Britton Ameere Britton 6'0" | CG Elk Grove | 2022 State CA-N 6’0 Guard Elk Grove ( Elk Grove CA)
Britton one of the rising prospects from the Sacramento area led his team in scoring 14.4 ppg, 3.1 asts, 2.1 stls. A strong and balanced player that can get his points multiple ways. He has a good first step on his way to the basket. Britton has good balance, he goes left or right off the dribble, finishes through contact or over taller defenders. He has a consistent mid-range with good form. A good on ball defender who’s aggressive and doesn’t give up on the play.
Trey Knight Trey Knight 6'0" | PG Moreau Catholic | 2022 WA 5’11 Point Guard, Moreau Catholic (Hayward CA)
A solid body guard who can handle the physical pounding. Knight has the tools to be quality point guard, he has good handles and patience when running half-court sets. He has good vision, and makes the right pass. Knight can break down his defenders to get to the paint for a pull up jumper, kick out pass, or dump it off to a big. He played off the ball as well, improving his ability to attack from various angles. He averaged 12.2 ppg.
Ray-John Spears Ray-John Spears 6'1" | SG Sacred Heart Cathedral | 2022 State CA-N 6’1 Guard, Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco CA)
A good athlete plays two sports (football). One day he might be in a position to choose which sport he wants to play at the next level. He played on an all guard team, where there was plenty of opportunities for him to showcase his hoop skills. He’s a strong and confident competitor who’s at his best in the open court. He has good handles and quickness to score off pull up jumpers, and strong drives to the basket. He averaged 16 ppg. He’s kind of streaky with 3’s. Being the athlete that he is, he’ll have to zero in at some point on which sport he wants to play.
Aidan Braccia 6’1 Point Guard, Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton CA)
Braccia had a breakout season with SHP. He was the teams 2nd leading scorer with 12.0 ppg, the leader in asts 4.3, stls 2.3, and managed to grab 4.3 rebs a game. A tough minded guard who loves to compete. He has an impressive pull up jumper that he makes with defenders hanging all over him. He seems to knock down 3’s at crunch time, and he has quick hands and works hard on the defensive end of the floor.
