Smart wing prospect who has a good feel for the game, Kramer can score from the arc or when he’s attacking off the dribble. He’s a willing passer who does a great job getting into the paint and making the defense collapse to find an open teammate.
42 | Vance Katzfey Vance Katzfey 6'3" | SG Spirit Lake | 2022 State IA | SG | Spirit Lake
6-2 scoring guard with a quick release on his jumper and the ability to finish at the rim with either hand. He averaged 16.2 points on 56% shooting as a sophomore.
43 | Adam Mattes Adam Mattes 6'3" | SG Newton | 2022 State IA | SG | Newton
Mattes has led Newton in scoring each of his first two varsity seasons, putting up 15.1 points a game as a sophomore. Solid ball handler and capable of scoring from all three levels. Good form on his jumper with the ability to shoot it both off the dribble and the catch.
44 | Darren Richardson Darren Richardson 6'0" | CG Iowa City | 2022 State IA | CG | City
Richardson missed his entire sophomore season recovering from a football injury, but he’s a strong lead guard built like a bowling ball. He’s at his best when he’s playing downhill and attacking the rim, as his jumper is still a work in progress. But he’s a strong, physical guard who isn’t afraid to finish through contact at the bucket. He’s a capable shooter from 3 but needs to become more consistent.
45 | Ty Van Essen Ty Van Essen 6'4" | PF Western Christian | 2022 State IA | PF | Western Christian
A 6-4 combo forward with remarkable efficiency, Van Essen averaged 14 points with 63-52-77 shooting splits. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor, can make an impact on the defensive end with his length. His ability to score from all three levels makes him an intriguing prospect.
46 | Noah Allen Noah Allen 5'11" | PG Pella | 2022 State IA | PG | Newton
Allen is tiny, but is a really good shooter from the arc, and is especially dangerous in catch-and-shoot situations. He moves well without the ball and has a quick release. He handles the ball fairly well and gets the ball into his shooting pocket quickly off the dribble.
47 | Rhenden Wagaman Rhenden Wagaman 6'3" | SG Springville | 2022 State IA | SG | Springville
A confident shooter who makes a lot of contested shots, Wagaman was just under 43% from behind the arc for a Springville team that qualified for State for the first time in 45 years. He uses his length to bother opposing ball handlers, moves his feet well and is a solid-all around scoring threat.
48 | Ian Duffey Ian Duffey 6'9" | C Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln | 2022 State IA | C | Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln
Duffey is big and has good, soft hands. He’s a solid athlete who runs the floor well and has a few decent go-to moves with his right hand. He’ll need to improve his left and his touch around the rim, but he’s got good size and rebounds the ball well.
Writer’s note: Following the writing of this article, we learned that Duffey has transferred to Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln.
49 | Ryan Dolphin Ryan Dolphin 5'8" | PG Pleasant Valley | 2022 State IA | PG | Pleasant Valley
Dolphin is small, listed at just 5-8, but is a good ball handler with a high basketball IQ. He’s a good perimeter shooter who also can make an impact as an on-ball defender with his lateral quickness.
50 | Dillon Kuehl Dillon Kuehl 6'1" | SG Urbandale | 2022 IA | SG | Urbandale
6-1 shooting guard has seen a lot of time early at Urbandale against really strong 4A competition. He’s a solid shooter from the arc. Somewhat limited athletically, but does a lot of little things that teams need to win games.
