The 6-0 guard is capable of filling it up in a hurry, as evidenced by his 51-point outburst against Sioux City East. He’s an efficient scorer from all three levels who can defend a bit on ball as well.
52 | Kaleb Cornilsen Kaleb Cornilsen 6'5" | PF Easton Valley | 2021 State IA | F | Easton Valley
An efficient, undersized big man with great footwork around the rim, Cornilsen can score on either block, with either hand. He runs the floor really well and does a good job establishing early post position. He has shown the ability to stretch out to about 15 feet so far, and if he can stretch that range out to the arc, he’ll be a nice player at the next level. He rebounds at a high level, recognizes the double early and is a willing passer.
53 | John Miller John Miller 5'10" | PG Davenport Central | 2021 State IA | PG | Davenport Central
A tough, physical guard who doesn’t back down from anyone. He’s got a good frame and a solid skill set, but really needs to improve his efficiency after shooting 33.5% from the floor and posting more turnovers than assists as a junior.
54 | Spencer Hixson Spencer Hixson 6'5" | SF Knoxville | 2021 State IA | SF | Knoxville
A 6-5 scoring wing, Hixson transferred to Knoxville from Des Moines Christian. It took him a little while to get going, but he’s a talented shot maker with good size and a high release on his jumper. His efficiency numbers weren’t great (38.5% from the floor, 32.4% from 3), but he’s a better shooter than those numbers indicate. His consistency needs to improve, but with his size, length and shot making ability, he’ll be a coveted prospect.
55 | Ben Loverude Ben Loverude 6'6" | PF Dmc | 2021 State IA | F | Des Moines Christian
Intriguing prospect with his ability to stretch the floor. At 6-6, we’d like to see him rebound a little more aggressively, but he could be a nice stretch-4 at a lower level college. A smooth lefty with a nice release and extended range on his jumper, shot 39% from the arc.
56 | Aldane Barrett Aldane Barrett 6'7" | C Davenport West | 2021 State IA | C | Davenport West
Developing big man with good hands and size, rebounds on both ends of the floor and runs the floor well. He needs to improve his all-around skill set, as he doesn’t have many post moves right now, but he can protect the rim and score off of offensive rebounds and in transition.
57 | Ashton Cook Ashton Cook 6'5" | SF Regina | 2021 State IA | SF | Regina
The son of former Hawkeye tight end Marv Cook, Ashton is a long, lean wing who can really attack the bucket and score effectively. He handles it fairly well, has the length and athleticism to defend multiple positions and is a solid scorer at the bucket. His future is likely on the gridiron at quarterback.
58 | Cole Watts Cole Watts 5'10" | SG Montezuma | 2021 State IA | SG | Montezuma
Watts is a solid off-guard with big arms and a beautiful stroke from deep. He’s an unconscious shooter who will drain it in your eye if you give him an inch of space, shooting 41.2% from behind the arc this season. He contributes on the glass, using solid athleticism and his strength to rebound effectively against bigger defenders. Lateral quickness and man defense are the biggest question marks for Watts, as Montezuma plays strictly 2-3.
59 | Amar Kuljuhovic Amar Kuljuhovic 6'6" | C Waterloo West | 2021 State IA | C | Waterloo West
Kulijuhovic has a throwback, back-to-the-basket game that is just fun to watch. He’s a crafty scorer on the block with an array of low-post moves and the ability to score with either hand, on either block. He’s got soft hands, great footwork and a little bit of a mean streak in him.
60 | Jordan Lawrence Jordan Lawrence 5'9" | PG Camanche | 2021 State IA | PG | Camanche
Knee injuries have plagued Lawrence throughout his high school career, but he’s a fantastic on-ball defender when he’s on the floor. Arguably the best defender we saw this year. He wasn’t asked to do a ton on the offensive end with a loaded roster around him, but he shoots it at a high level and is a solid ball handler and passer.
