The Division 1 field was talented and extremely deep this season. Probably over 10 teams had legitimate arguments that they had a realistic shot at the title this season. I’ll take a look at what I think would have happened in the semifinals.
Check out our look at a hypothetical quarterfinal bracket to show you how we created the semifinal matchups:
How D1 Could Have Played Out – The Quarterfinals
UD – Jesuit vs. Muskegon
Prediction: Muskegon
I think that Muskegon’s versatility and flexibility push them into the title game. They have 6-7 players that can really have a huge impact on a game on any given night. They have power in the paint, 4’s that can run the floor, and quick perimeter players that can create for themselves and for their teammates.
Most Valuable Player: Billie Roberts (2020, PF, Muskegon)
Robert’s and his power and strength on the glass and in the paint might be Muskegon’s biggest chance at a mismatch.
River Rouge vs. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Prediction: River Rouge
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s has no possible ‘reason” I can give that they’d lose a game. They are that talented. I just feel like River Rouge has that big game swag, and this would be their biggest challenge yet. Geeter, Devlin, and Darby Jr. are a tough trio to top.
Most Valuable Player: Keyshawn Devlin Keyshawn Devlin 5'11" | CG River Rouge | 2021 State MI (2021, PG, River Rouge)
With River Rouge going against arguably the most talented and deepest backcourt in Michigan, Devlin would have to have a big time game for his team to move on.
