Let’s take a look at the recruiting wire from the last seven days.
COMMITMENTS
Senior Mt. Zion wing Otis Frazier III gave his pledge to George Mason. The Patriots were one of four programs along with James Madison, Hostra and Loyola Chicago to offer the 6-foot-6 sharpshooting lefty since the new year. Frazier will bring size, length and shooting to the wing position and should benefit from playing in George Mason’s system.
St. Vincent Pallotti senior guard Anthony Blunt Anthony Blunt 6'2" | CG St. Vincent Pallotti | 2020 State MD committed to UMass-Lowell. Blunt joins his older brother, Allin, who just finished his sophomore season at Lowell. Anthony’s recruitment was similar to his older brother’s. UMass-Lowell offered late in the process and while he was still measuring himself with a couple of Ivy League programs, Anthony decided to make it official and bring his skill set as a combo guard.
Oxon Hill guard Mike Sumner Mike Sumner 6'3" | CG Oxon Hill | 2020 State MD will head to Chipola Community College next season. The 6-foot-3 guard spent the past year or so concentrating on his body and getting into better shape. As a result he was finishing over the rim on a consistent basis while being a consistent play-making presence off the bounce. Sumner should see many suitors come to light as he begins his career at Chipola.
Fairmont Heights senior guard Keyshawn Johnson Keyshawn Johnson 6'1" | CG Fairmont Heights | 2020 State MD has committed to Barton Community College. The 5-foot-11 guard put on a scoring clinic this season from all three levels of the floor and should be able to transition to the JuCo level seamlessly in hopes to gain some scholarship offers to four-year schools in the future.
Franklin senior guard Ben Murphy Ben Murphy 6'2" | SG Franklin | 2020 State MD will announce his commitment to Howard Community College today. Coach Smelkinson and staff continue to put together a solid roster as they prepare to defend their championship run from this season. Murphy is an elite athlete who can produce in a variety of ways.
Eleanor Roosevelt senior guard Lumi Lewis will attend St. Mary’s College of Maryland this fall. The lead guard comes in from a winning program and brings an all around solid skill set. Lewis can hit open shots from the perimeter, slither his way into the paint to create for others and prides himself on his relentless effort defensively.
OFFERS
2020 Winston Churchill guard Jomo Goings Jomo Goings 6'4" | CG Churchill | 2020 State MD was offered by Slippery Rock. The 6-foot-4 long, slender combo guard could impact at the Division II level quickly. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a commitment announcement in the coming weeks as Goings hasn’t been receiving offers like he initially thought he would.
2021 St. Frances forward Julian Reese Julian Reese 6'8" | C St. Frances | 2021 State #109 Nation MD received an offer from Marquettte. That gives the 6-foot-9 lefty five offers of the Big East variety and 15 offers in total.
2021 Highland School guard Angelo Brizzi Angelo Brizzi 6'3" | PG Highland School | 2021 State #216 Nation VA added three offers over the past seven days from Virginia Tech, Iona and LSU. Brizzi’s stock continues to skyrocket as more programs are investing time in film to see his elite outside shooting and play-making as a southpaw. Brizzi now has a total of 27 offers.
2022 West Nottingham wing/forward Yann Farrell picked up an offer from Seton Hall. Farrell versatile at 6-foot-7 and now holds offers from Maryland, Vanderbilt and Seton Hall.
2022 Coolidge forward Stephaun Walker Stephaun Walker 6'7" | PF Coolidge | 2022 State MD received an offer from Rider. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 11 points and grabbed 15 boards a game as a sophomore.
2023 Poly wing Kwame Evans Kwame Evans 6'9" | SF Montverde | 2023 State #20 Nation FL Jr. received an offer from Xavier. The 6-foot-9 freshman who had a productive season for the nationally ranked Engineers now holds seven total offers with four coming in the Big East variety.
2023 St. Frances guard Jahnathan Lamothe Jahnathan Lamothe 6'3" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #204 Nation MD received his first offer from Austin Peay. Lamothe is a 6-foot-2 guard who can stretch the floor with his outside shot. As he grows and develops his game, he’ll be a name people see on a consistent basis.
