Several players were expected to make big leaps in the rankings this summer going into their senior seasons. Here we break down some recruits I believe could still rise in the ranks, and also where I predict they will rise to by the end of their final high school season of basketball.
Chase Ross Chase Ross 6'3" | SG Cushing Academy | 2021 State TX – Shooting Guard – Plano West: This electrifying lefty is one of the most talented scorers in the entire state, with the potential to be one of the best in the nation. Chase is a tough player to guard with his ability to pull-up, penetrate the defense, and play above the rim. The first thing you will notice about Chase’s game is his incredible athleticism and leaping skills. Standing at only 6’3, he’s a true lob threat. Once he gets in the air there’s no stopping him, he’s either dunking on you or over you. He has tight handles, a nice mid-range pull-up, and displays solid 3-point shooting abilities with range. Ross nearly scored 500 points this past season, making him a great fit for any college program in need of a scorer. Next season, if Plano West can get a few more wins and Chase Ross Chase Ross 6'3" | SG Cushing Academy | 2021 State TX can continue to produce, I believe his stock will skyrocket. Stock Rise: 60 to 32
Noah McDavid Noah McDavid 6'5" | SG Lake Highlands | 2021 State TX – Shooting Guard/Small Forward – Lake Highlands: McDavid is a poised player that never seems rattled or out of focus. His approach to the game is the type that would work well in just about any system. Noah’s best ability on the court may be his knack for getting into the lane without a ball-screen or a drawn-up play. He has great focus when getting inside, and knows how to finish even when it’s congested. Noah does a really good job of getting to his spots and shooting over the defense; His solid shooting is a great asset to his game. Plays with a good feel for the game and shows outstanding movement without the ball; He often finds soft spots in the defense and capitalizes on them. With improvements, Noah Mcdavid may shock a lot of people and become a highly sought after prospect. Stock Rise: 91 to 80
Paul Bizimana Paul Bizimana 6'7" | PF Haltom | 2021 State TX – Small Forward/Power Forward – Haltom: He’s a 6’7 walking double-double that can stuff a stat sheet every night. Paul’s fundamentals and versatility are what set him apart on the court. He can stretch the floor and knock down open 3-pointers, he can post up and score with one of his many post moves, and he can be the disruptive piece on defense. On the defensive end, Bizimana has length and size that creates many problems for the opposition, he makes it tough to shoot over or pass around him; He even had multiple games where he finished with 4 or 5 blocks this year. Paul is expected to have an insane senior season, likely averaging a double-double especially after dropping 20 points and 9 rebounds per game in his junior year. Paul Bizimana Paul Bizimana 6'7" | PF Haltom | 2021 State TX has tremendous upside, and the potential for his stock to rise to a top 25 ranking in the state. Stock Rise: 42 to 29
Marcus Rigsby Marcus Rigsby 6'2" | SG Irving MacArthur | 2021 State TX – Shooting Guard – Irving MacArthur: Rigsby is a 3-point specialist with a quick smooth release, and If you let him get a shot off you’re in trouble. He plays his role exceptionally well, comes in off the bench, gets buckets, and changes the game instantly. Marcus shoots the ball with confidence; every time he lets it fly he knows it’s going in. Consistently, his team relies on him to hit a quick shot ending the quarter or in clutch situations. Marcus has nice ball-handling skills that get him to the rack where he can really make some tough shots. Marcus Rigsby Marcus Rigsby 6'2" | SG Irving MacArthur | 2021 State TX has the potential to take his game to the next level and become a true playmaker. His senior season should be a special one; It won’t surprise anyone if he lights up the scoreboard and leads his team in scoring. Stock Rise: 105 to 97
