Several players were expected to make big leaps in the rankings this summer going into their senior seasons. Here we break down some recruits I believe could still rise in the ranks, and also where I think they will rise to by the end of their final high school season of basketball.
Rytis Petraitis Rytis Petraitis 6'6" | SG Oak Ridge | 2021 State TX – Shooting Guard – The Oakridge School: 6’6 lethal 3-point marksman with a lightning-fast release that’ll put fear in any opponent’s heart. Not only does Rytis take smart shots, but he always gets the shot that he was looking for. Many try, but there’s no stopping him from getting to his spots, he’s a very efficient shooter that can beat you off the dribble if you over pursue; His skills resemble a young JJ Reddick from Duke. With his prolific scoring ability, he had seven 30-point games this season, and will likely have a couple 40-point games next season. Rytis Petraitis Rytis Petraitis 6'6" | SG Oak Ridge | 2021 State TX is one of the most must-watch players in the class of 2021; His numbers are expected to shoot up across the board substantially in his final year, I won’t even be surprised if he hits a hundred 3-pointers. Stock Rise: 52 to 25
Jalen Lake Jalen Lake 6'4" | SG Waxahachie | 2021 State #245 Nation TX – Shooting Guard – Waxahachie High School: Jalen has next-level talent that could shoot his stock through the roof. This 6’4 shooting guard is coming off an amazing junior season where he put over 400 points and helped lead his team to a top 5 ranking in Texas. Jalen is one of the best and purest scorers in the state; moves fast, with fluidity, and has handles that’ll create space from any defender. He has a picture-perfect shot with Steph Curry range and can light it up from anywhere on the court. Defensively, he seems to always be engaged and in lockdown mode. Jalen Lake Jalen Lake 6'4" | SG Waxahachie | 2021 State #245 Nation TX has gotten better and better every year, he went from a 3-point shooter to an all-around playmaker; I can’t wait to see his growth from his junior year to senior year. Stock Rise: 17 to 9
Ian Motta Ian Motta 6'6" | SF Allen | 2021 State TX – Shooting Guard/Small Forward – Allen High School: A sparkplug player that gets the crowd and team hyped up every time he makes a play. Ian plays his role exceptionally well; he’s a shooter who’s a dangerous threat from beyond the arc. He’s 6’6 with excellent athletic potential and all the physical attributes you could ask for. Motta has crazy leaping ability and is always looking to put his opponent on a poster. With major pieces of the offense moving on to college, Ian’s points per game shall rise up along with his opportunities to score the ball. Ian Motta Ian Motta 6'6" | SF Allen | 2021 State TX has shown improvements year after year, and next year shouldn’t be any different. Stock Rise: 57 to 40
Jocorian Freeman – Shooting Guard/Small Forward – Ranchview High School: 6’3 lefty with a long frame, strong hands, and incredible athleticism. Freeman is a streaky scorer but once he gets it going he’s practically unstoppable. He loves the 3-ball and will knock it down wide open or with the slightest bit of space. Jocorian has an insane bag of moves that breaks down his defenders in order to get his own shot. He’s an aggressive and physical player on offense, defense, and on the boards. Jocorian Freeman has an exciting game to watch, you never know when he will cross someone over or dunk on someone. Somehow he has slid under the radar but I believe amazing things are yet to come from him; his ceiling is really high. Stock Rise: Unranked to 91
