Our Michigan high school athletes aren’t just maintaining, they are GETTING BETTER. Let’s look at some players and what they are doing in order to crush the quarantine. We will look at a workout they’ve done at home, areas they are trying to improve, and a quote from each athlete.

Aleks Cvetkovski
2021, PG, Utica
SKILL FOCUS:
Quickness
Shooting off the catch
Maintaining sharp ball handling
WORKOUT:
Cvetkovski has worked hard to keep everything at game speed. He puts up shots for 30 minutes, focusing on game situations and speed. He does 1500 jump ropes per day which will help his speed, footwork, and agility. Cvetkovski does a stationary ball handling routine for at least 20 minutes every day.

Miller has dedicated himself with a very strict practice plan through the quarantine. Here is what it looks like –
Monday – Arms
Push ups 5 x 10, Dips 3 x 10, Tricep pushes 5 x 10, Push ups 3 x 8, Dumbbell bench 3 x 8, ball handling
Tuesday – Legs
Run 2 miles, Push ups 5 x 10, Calf raises 5 x 30, Dumbbell lunges 3 x 10, Dumbbell squats 3 x 8, Weighted calf raises 3 x 8, Ball handling, Game shots
Wednesday – Core/Arms
Push ups 5 x 10, Leg lifts 3 x 10, Russian twists (100), Hanging leg lifts 3 x 5, Dips 2 x 5, Ball handling, Game shots
Thursday – Legs/Core
2 mile run, Push ups 5 x 10, Leg lifts 3 x 10, Russian twists (100), Hanging leg lifts 3 x 10, Dumbbell squats 3 x 8, Weighted lunges 3 x 8, Ball handling, Game shots
Friday – Whole body
Push ups 5 x 10, Dips 3 x 10, Leg lifts 3 x 10, Russian twists (100), Dumbbell squats 3 x 8, Weighted lunges 3 x 8, Ball handling, Game shots
Sunday – Whole Body (light)

James Weaver
2024, SG, River Rouge

WORKOUT:
Weaver is a talented incoming freshman. He’s done a great job building upper body strength through the quarantine. He does 60 dumbbell curls with 15 pound weights. Weaver then does 60 side raises with the 15 pound dumbbell. After that he moves on to 100 push ups and 100 sit ups. Weaver then moves on to his dribbling drills and jumpshot drills.
