We will now dive deep into District 26-6A, which features high school programs: Canyon Cougars, Clemens Buffaloes, East Central Hornets, Judson Rockets, New Braunfels Unicorns, San Marcos Rattlers, Smithson Valley Rangers, and Steele Knights.

Today’s article will focus on the best defensive players in District 26-6A, highlighting stats such as blocks, steals, and charges. Each of these players impacted the game greatly for their respective team by showing their willingness to be playmakers on the defensive side of the court.
Here are the top defenders from District 26-6A during the 2019-20 season:
Zayden High – 6-5 Forward – Smithson Valley (2023)
- In 23 games logged, High posted 25 total blocks in his impressive freshman season. Instincts and length aided High to achieve an average of 1.1 blocks per game.
Jack Lewis – 6-4 Forward – New Braunfels (2020)
- Lewis led the district in total blocks with 36 on the season. His physicality in the paint, coupled with great anticipation to deflect shots, resulted in 1.1 blocks per game over 34 contests.
Elijah Blair – 5-10 Guard – Judson (2020)
- On a talented Judson defensive squad, Blair led all players with 60 total steals on the season. Over 36 games logged, Blair had an impressive 1.7 average takeaways per contest.
Devante Mount – 5-10 Guard – Smithson Valley (2020)
- During his senior season, Mount was the defensive leader in the backcourt for the Rangers. He tallied 50 total steals, which gave him an average of 1.7 steals per game.
Quincey Shepherd – 5-9 Guard – Steele (2020)
- Shepherd showed his toughness on the defensive end of the court as he led the district in charges with 26 total on the season. In addition, he also averaged 1.4 steals per game, with 45 total across 33 games logged.

2021 F Davion Wilson (Judson) – 20 blocks
2020 G Kyonte Holder (Judson) – 58 steals
