What if we had a 2-on-2 tournament, with 1 boy and 1 girl forming each team? We will look at what could happen if the class of 2022 had a tournament like this. I’ll give you a breakdown of the teams, the bracket, and what my predictions would be.
THE TEAMS
Team A
Ruby Whitehorn (SG, Detroit Edison)
Whitehorn is a top talent with next level attacking and finishing off the wing. She can play at any pace.
Orlando Lovejoy Orlando Lovejoy 6'3" | CG 1 of 1 Prep | 2022 State NC (PG, Summit Academy)
Lovejoy can flat out take over games. He can attack off the bounce and finish in a clutter.
Team B
Mya Petticord (PG, Arbor Prep)
Petticord can do it all from the point. She can direct an offense and create off the dribble when her team needs it.
Kyler Vanderjagt Kyler Vanderjagt 6'4" | 195 lbs | SF Northview | 2022 State MI (G/F, Northview)
Vanderjagt has a college ready frame right now. He’s a 3 level scorer that creates matchup issues for opposing coaches.
Team C
Theryn Hallock (SG, Forest Hills Central)
Hallock is an elite talent on the perimeter. She’s has an extremely high basketball IQ and a solid jumper with 3 point range.
Jason Drake Jason Drake 6'2" | CG Ferndale | 2022 State MI (SG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
Drake is an aggressive off guard. He looks to attack and plays downhill on both levels.
Team D
Abbey Kimball (SG, West Catholic)
Kimball is a versatile scorer. She’s smooth and slippery with the ball and can score at all 3 levels.
Kareem Rozier (PG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
Rozier is a throwback type player. He creates off the bounce and wins with hustle and grit.
Team E
Madisen Wardell (PF, Detroit Edison)
Wardell is a long and athletic post player. She’s a true 2 way player with a very high ceiling.
Fletcher Loyer (SG, Clarkston)
Loyer has become an elite scorer in the class of 2022. He’s lethal from behind the arc, but he has a dangerous mid range game to go with it.
Team F
Rakiyah Beal (SF, Detroit Edison)
Beal is incredibly dangerous in transition. She’s quick down the floor, fills a lane, and finishes strong.
JaVaughn Hannah JaVaughn Hannah 6'4" | SG Orchard Lake St. Mary's | 2022 State #221 Nation MI (SG, Mt. Clemens)
Hannah is a scorer at heart. There may not be anyone that can slow him in a 1-on-1 matchup.
Team G
Alecsis Smith (C, Bay City Central)
Smith is a beast in the paint on both ends. She can absolutely control a game by stealing posessions off the glass.
Ty Rodgers Ty Rodgers 6'6" | SF Grand Blanc | 2022 #34 Nation IN (SF, Grand Blanc)
Rodgers is a highly regarded prospect omn a national level. He can run the floor and finish with the best.
Team H
Jaci Tubergon (SG, Hudsonville)
Tubergon can attack either outside-in or inside-out. She’s can defend 3-4 positions as well.
Emoni Bates (G/F, Ypsilanti-Lincoln)
Bates is regarded as the best prospect in the country regardless of class. He can do it all, and all of it at an elite level.
