Below are five prospects that could have used the spring to enhance their recruitment.
6’7 Garrett Johnson Garrett Johnson 6'7" | SG Episcopal | 2021 State VA | Episcopal
Garrett really started to emerge into the player we thought he could be this past year finishing with an average of 18 points per game. When watching him in the state tournament we noticed how much he grew and noticed a much improved motor and productivity while he was on the court. The long and lanky wing had some positive momentum heading into the spring that would have enhanced his recruitment in my opinion.
6’0 Mike Gray Mike Gray 6'0" | CG Blue Ridge | 2021 State VA | Blue Ridge
Gray is known as an absolute winner as he just led Blue Ridge to another state title this past March while being the lead guard for the Barons. Gray does whatever it takes to win and is one of the toughest players in the entire state. It would have been awesome to see what Gray could have done with Team Loaded this spring.
6’5 Wes Peterson | Bishop O’Connell
Peterson is a versatile guard that would have gotten a lot of exposure this spring as he has a strong body already which helps him guard some of the best players on the other team. Offensively he has improved too and can be counted on to score for his team in a variety of ways. Some of the better mid major programs from the regions should be keeping close tabs on Peterson.
6’7 Bryson Spell Bryson Spell 6'7" | PF Cape Henry | 2021 State VA | Cape Henry Collegiate
Bryson has always had the intriguing size and is known to stretch the floor well and shoot the basketball. Defensively I have seen him play well and is an underrated shot block blocker. I think more and more colleges would have taken notice of his talents this spring as high major schools are monitoring him.
6’6 Xzavier Long Xzavier Long 6'6" | PF VA Academy | 2021 State VA | Middleburg
Xzavier is a guy that in my opinion sometimes gets overlooked because of the guard talent that surrounds him on his high school team. Xzavier is a long body that stands at 6’6 and can do a lot of things offensively around the rim because of his size and mobility.
