Griffin Lauritano Griffin Lauritano 6'4" | SF Evergreen | 2021 State CO | Evergreen
Lauritano is a strong athlete both on the football field and hardwood, he averaged 18.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG shooting 55% from two-point range on the season (156/238). He finished with six double-doubles and was playing his best ball towards the end of the year, finishing with back-to-back double doubles to close his junior campaign. He’s 6’4 and skilled with the ball, he can put it on the deck getting by slower defenders, he is aggressive getting to the rim and uses his body well. I love his mid-range game as well, he’s got strong footwork and gets to his spots on the floor. He’s strong in the post as well with a number of different moves and can finish through contact with his size and strength. Second on the team in made threes, he can also stretch the floor and knock down the long ball, shooting 45% (23/51). He has a great feel for the game and does a nice job of taking what the defense gives him, look for him to have a monster senior season coming up.
Jaromy Morgan | Thompson Valley
Morgan is another player with good size at 6’5 and is able to score from all three levels. He averaged 13.0 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 2.0 SPG, 2.7 SPG leading the team in points and rebounds during his junior year. He has good handles for his size and is able to lead the break after a rebound, he shot 41% from two-point range this season (96/232). Morgan recorded eight double doubles on the year including three in their last four games of the season. He’s got a nice pull up jumper off the dribble as well and gets to his spots with one or two dribbles. Thompson Valley had some seniors graduate this year so Morgan will have an even bigger role next year.
Colin Westfall Colin Westfall 6'1" | SG Lewis-Palmer | 2021 State CO | Lewis-Palmer
Lewis-Palmer returns a large part of their team next year and that includes Westfall who had a breakout junior season averaging 14.8 PPG, 3.8 APG, 3.8 RPG, 1.5 SPG shooting 42% from three-point range (45/106). All that comes after playing in nineteen games as a sophomore but not being much of a threat, funny how much can change in a year. His 14.8 points per game led the team this year as did his 3.8 APG. He is a skilled guard that can score from all three levels of the court, he shot 83% from the foul-line (66/80) and is a strong facilitator with good vision. Keep an eye on him during his upcoming senior season.
Bryce Andrews Bryce Andrews 6'1" | CG Weld Central | 2022 State CO | Weld Central (So)
Andrews has a very impressive sophomore season for Weld Central, the 6’3 guard averaged 14.7 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.6 SPG, 1.2 BPG shooting 53% from inside the arc (122/232). He was tied for first on the team in points behind senior Sena, and was first on the team in rebounding, the second leading scorer was also a senior so Andrews is going to have even more of a work load next year. It will be fun to see how he grows into the leading role these next two years of his career, the next stage in development for him will be working on his jumper. He recorded six double-doubles on the year and was close to several others, he’s a strong rebounder at the guard position and does a nice job of pushing the pace once he has it, creating pressure on the defense.
Tarrance Austin | Pueblo South (So)
Austin, another sophomore who had a strong year averaged 17.2 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 3.4 APG, 3.7 SPG shooting 53% from two-point range (135/257) for Pueblo South. His 17.2 points per game led the team this year, he is a crafty guard with strong handles who is able to get by his defender and create problems once inside the paint. He is another player who made a major jump, he saw a lot of action as a freshman playing in all twenty-four games averaging 8.5 PPG and 2.3 RPG. It will be fun to see how he continues to improve these next two years.
Mason Black Mason Black 6'3" | CG Falcon | 2022 State CO | Falcon (So)
Black is another sophomore who had a strong season, the 6’3 guard averaged 19.4 PPG, 2.9 RPG shooting 59% from inside the arc (133/227) and 32% from distance (39/121). He scored a season high of 32 points which he hit twice during the season. As a freshmen he averaged 12.5 points per game, he’s a player that has seen a lot of experience already at the varsity level and is only going to continue to get better as a upperclassman these next two years. He can score from all three levels of the court and does a nice job of taking what the defense will give him.
Luke Hutto | Montrose (So)
Hutto like the previous few is another sophomore who had a solid year, the 6’2 guard averaged 14.6 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.0 SPG shooting 58% from two-point range (112/194). He led the team in both points and rebounds, Montrose is graduating a couple key seniors as well so these next two years will be interesting to see how Hutto develops more into the lead role for them. Hutto finished with a season high of 25 points in their second to last game in a close victory over Evergreen. He ended the year with five double-doubles, demonstrating his strong rebounding ability at the guard position.
Seth Newton Seth Newton 6'5" | SF Canon City | 2021 State CO | Canon City
Canon City has two standout juniors, on being Newton the 6’4 guard who averaged a team high 18.4 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 5.3 APG to go along with 1.9 SPG and 1.8 BPG on defense. He shot 38% from distance on the year going (54/144) and 77% from the foul-line (81/105). He had a season high of 32 points in a loss to Harrison as well as 12 rebounds and six assists in that performance. He made a major jump from his sophomore season to junior and should continue to improve his game going into his senior campaign. His length creates problems on defensive and he does a nice job of playing the passing lanes, he is a skilled passer that sees the floor very well and can push the pace. He’s got a nice quick release to his shot and is able to get it off over smaller defenders as well as go by them attacking the rim hard and using his strength and athleticism to finish.
