Prep Hoops has released its latest Colorado class of 2022 rankings update based on the 2019-20 season. The 2022 class is an interesting one as we had a significant shakeup in the Top-5 as well as plenty of movement throughout the rest of the rankings while adding prospects as well. Here, we focus on some of the classes’ surging wings.
Andrew Scott Andrew Scott 6'4" | SG Silver Creek | 2022 State CO – Silver Creek
Andrew Scott Andrew Scott 6'4" | SG Silver Creek | 2022 State CO was one of the more entertaining players for Silver Creek this season as he was the second-leading scorer and a relief alongside a big-time scorer that is graduating. Scott is an interior scorer that has his way inside. He slashes and finds holes in the defense, he puts the ball on the floor and gets to the rim and also uses the mid-range as well. Scott understands how to score when the play is broken and also is a relentless rebounder as well. This season the 6’2 wing put up nine points, and 5.6 rebounds a game. He has games where he went off like when he scored 30 points in a win against Centaurus and will step into next season as the leading scorer and focal point No.1 for opposing teams. He enters the rankings at the No. 32 player in the class.
Said Mobasher Said Mobasher 6'1" | CG Thomas Jefferson | 2022 CA-S – Thomas Jefferson
Mobasher is a player that you enjoy watching. For the Spartans this season, he was a spark plug off of the bench who played with immense energy and made opposing guards work for every single basket. Even if he did make a mistake, it was okay because you know that it was done with 100% energy and that type of play keeps you on the floor because it is contagious. Mobasher had a few breakout games this year, where he shed two-way abilities and things to look forward to when it all comes together. He scored a career-high 24 points early in the season against Monarch and will have to continue having those kinds of games combined with the defense if he plans on being a more significant part of the Spartans moving forward. I like the role that Mobasher plays for TJ, and hopefully, he finds out how to star in it. He’s the No. 44 player in the class.
Chris Schlesinger Chris Schlesinger 6'5" | PF Rock Canyon | 2022 State CO – Arapahoe
Schlesinger is a promising 6’3 forward that can even step out on the wing at times as a slasher but is a big man with a solid handle and good footwork. He gets to the rim for runners and floaters and is a fierce defender that alters shots and also plays the passing lane. What separated him this year and kept him on the floor was his ability to make plays and set up teammates. Schlesinger is a plus passer that averaged a team-high 3.1 assists a game. He also put up five points and five rebounds a game and proved that he belongs. Next season he will build on a great start and go through him at times. He is the No.45 player in the class.
Connor Showalter Connor Showalter 6'4" | PF Mancos | 2022 State CO – Mancos
This season Mancos was one of the best teams in all of 2A, and it was the Showalter show. Connor and his brother Caden did everything in their power to ensure wins for the Bluejays, and they did a great job as Mancos finished 19-4 on the season. Showalter showed promise as a freshman, but in his sophomore season, he jumped in every single category and even better, was the team’s leading scorer. Showalter averaged 15.6 points a game with a season-high 25 points against Ignacio and proved to be their most consistent player offensively. He also figured out how to affect the game in other ways as the 6’4 do it all wing/forward gave out 3.6 assists and 5.4 boards a game while also being a lockdown defender that played the passing lanes well and turned them into scoring opportunities. Next season it will be up to him again to carry the scoring load, and he will have to up his game yet again if Mancos wants to build on a strong year and have a chance at winning it all. Showalter is the No. 58 player in the class.
