Raridon’s future is likely as a tight end in college, but he’s a solid contributor on the hardwood as well. A big, physical forward with explosive athleticism, he was a dominant low-post presence for Valley, averaging 13 points and leading the team in rebounding. He has good touch around the rim, great hands and can provide some highlight reel plays.
Ashton Hermann Ashton Hermann 6'4" | SG Ballard | 2022 State IA | SG | Ballard | 14
A long, confident wing who can fill it up from all three levels, Hermann is quick with the ball and is a good athlete. He’s wiry and jumps the passing lanes well on the defensive end. As he continues to become a more consistent shooter, he could emerge as one of the top scorers in the state.
Caleb Holmes Caleb Holmes 6'2" | SF Hinton | 2022 State IA | SF | Hinton | 24
Holmes is an efficient scoring wing with good size and length, and a nice looking perimeter stroke. Had a few big-time scoring games for Hinton as a sophomore en route to averaging 21.7 points a game. Needs to continue to improve ball handling to help create own shot better.
Gunner Meyer Gunner Meyer 6'5" | SF Wapsie Valley | 2022 State IA | SF | Wapsie Valley | 28
Few players had a better state tournament week than Meyer did, showcasing a little bit of everything in his arsenal. He’s got good size and length at 6-4, is a really good athlete, and he can stretch the floor with his ability to shoot it from 3. He’ll need to improve his ball handling and ability to create his own shot, but he’s strong in catch-and-shoot situations and is a solid contributor across the board.
Noah Mack Noah Mack 6'0" | SG Assumption | 2022 State IA | SG | Assumption | 30
Mack came up to varsity about midway through the year and was an impact player for a strong 3A team. A confident guard with good length, he is a solid perimeter shooter with a quick release who moves really well off the ball. A capable ball handler and decision maker who should see his role increase a ton next year following the graduation of Sean Peeters Sean Peeters 6'5" | PF Assumption | 2020 State IA .
Ryan Crandall Ryan Crandall 6'1" | SF Ankeny | 2022 State IA | SF | Ankeny | 40
Crandall is a long, active wing who was a key contributor off the bench for the 4A state champs, averaging 6 points and finishing second in rebounding. The 6-1 small forward can score inside and out, is an active defender and can do a little bit of everything on the floor.
Vance Katzfey Vance Katzfey 6'3" | SG Spirit Lake | 2022 State IA | SG | Spirit Lake | 42
6-2 scoring guard with a quick release on his jumper and the ability to finish at the rim with either hand. Averaged 16.2 points on 56% shooting as a sophomore.
Ty Van Essen Ty Van Essen 6'4" | PF Western Christian | 2022 State IA | PF | Western Christian | 45
A 6-4 combo forward with remarkable efficiency, Van Essen averaged 14 points with 63-52-77 shooting splits. He rebounds well on both ends of the floor, can make an impact on the defensive end with his length. His ability to score from all three levels make him an intriguing prospect.
Noah Allen Noah Allen 5'11" | PG Pella | 2022 State IA | PG | Newton | 46
Allen is tiny, but is a really good shooter from the arc and is especially dangerous in catch-and-shoot situations. He moves well without the ball and has a quick release. He handles the ball fairly well and gets the ball into his shooting pocket quickly off the dribble.
Rhenden Wagaman Rhenden Wagaman 6'3" | SG Springville | 2022 State IA | SG | Springville | 47
A confident shooter who makes a lot of contested shots, Wagaman was just under 43% from behind the arc for a Springville team that qualified for State for the first time in 45 years. He uses his length to bother opposing ball handlers, moves his feet well and is a solid all-around scoring threat.
