#10 AJ Williams AJ Williams 6'1" | SG Oak Hill Academy | 2021 State VA | 6’1” | Trinity Episcopal (#27 Overall)
Williams’ resume stacks up against anyone in the state with a state championship his freshman year and he’s proven to be one of the best shooters in the state. For TES this year he was phenomenal down the stretch and stepped up big in big time games, he showed improvement in his ball handling and decision making and when he bought in defensively he helped turn their season around. His ability to make tough shots on the move and off the bounce is very impressive.
#9 Dominic Stanford Dominic Stanford 6'4" | SG Kempsville | 2021 State VA | 6’5” | Kempsville (#26 Overall)
Stanford emerged as one of the top wing prospects in the 757 with his growth both physically and on the court. He blossomed to 6’5” and grew into his body becoming more explosive, and he used that athleticism to show good finishing ability above the rim and rebound at a good rate as well. He’s also a well rounded scorer that can shoot it from deep, put it on the deck and create space and he’s a strong finisher through traffic as well.
#8 Garrett Johnson Garrett Johnson 6'7" | SG Episcopal | 2021 State VA | 6’7” | Episcopal (#22 Overall)
The Episcopal wing looked really good this season helping them get to the state semifinals and next year he should have an even bigger role. A long and lanky 6’7” wing that gets up and down well and is a good athlete, Johnson has a blue collar style of game mixed with the ability to score it in multiple ways. He averaged 18.6 points per game this year and with the improvement rate as well as his high academics he’s a guy that should see his recruitment pick up.
#7 Derrick Jones Derrick Jones 6'6" | SF Blue Ridge | 2021 State VA | 6’4” | Blue Ridge (#20 Overall)
A superb athlete that has the chance to be a great two way player, Jones is a wiry and bouncy wing that has big play potential written all over him. He can shoot the ball from deep with good consistency, he’s a guy who has surprisingly good shiftiness and ability to get to his spots and when he’s around the rim he’s able to really sky and finish above the rim or rebound. He should be set up for a big senior season and could see his stock take off with that.
#6 Annouar Mellouk | 6’7” | Fork Union (#18 Overall)
Mellouk may not be known by many coaches or people in the Virginia basketball world but the long and athletic wing has tons of potential moving forward. A native of the Netherlands, he’s still a little raw but he has tools that will translate now and still has plenty of time to get better. He’s a high motor guy that can make plays on both ends of the floor, he shoots the deep ball well and he can get way above the rim to make impressive plays.
#5 Wes Peterson Jr. | 6’5” | Bishop O’Connell (#15 Overall)
Peterson is a guy that is right on the border of getting a lot of offers, especially after an impressive junior year on a young O’Connell team that will only be better next year. He’s a guy with a good frame that’s strong and he knows how to use it, he’s athletic on both ends and he can make shots off the catch both on the move and on kick outs. He’s a two impact guy that rebounds well and can score in bunches, and he’s still getting better every time we see him.
#4 Jaden House Jaden House 6'4" | SG Middleburg | 2021 #246 Nation VA | 6’3” | Middleburg (#10 Overall)
House transferred from Henrico last year and reclassified to the 2021 class at Middleburg and has blown up ever since that move. The 6’3” scoring guard had a monster junior year as earned First Team All State while leading Middleburg to the state semifinals and he’s picked up close to 10 offers including one from Georgetown earlier in the season. He’s a strong and physical guard that’s an athletic finisher, makes shots and gets hot quickly and can create his own shot in isolation situations as well.
#3 Markus Ilver Markus Ilver 6'7" | SF Massanutten | 2021 OH | 6’7” | Massanutten (#8 Overall)
Ilver is one of the best young prospects from Eastern Europe as he is a superstar on the Estonian national team and brought his game to Massanutten’s post-grad team where he’s making a name for himself with college coaches. He’s long and athletic as he’s able to finish way above the rim, he’s a great shooter who can make it on the move with a quick release and he’s unselfish and plays hard on both ends of the floor. He’s still getting used to the speed and style of play over here but he’s a guy with all the tools to be a high major recruit.
#2 Jalen Ricks Jalen Ricks 6'7" | SF Oak Hill Academy | 2021 State #149 Nation VA | 6’6” | Oak Hill Academy (#5 Overall)
Ricks isn’t the most known guy in our Virginia basketball world because he’s not from this area, but the Arkansas native is already being touted by high major programs and if he comes back he’ll be a go-to guy moving forward. At 6’6” he has terrific positional size and great length to go with it, he’s a fluid and natural athlete that can play above the rim and he has all of the tools to be a versatile defender at the next level. He has a great base skill set as far as handling and shooting the basketball and he’s only going to get better and better as time goes on.
#1 Trevor Keels Trevor Keels 6'4" | SG Paul VI | 2021 State #18 Nation VA | 6’4” | Paul VI (#1 Overall)
Keels leaps into the #1 spot for the first time in our 2021 rankings, edging out Steward 7 footer Efton Reid Efton Reid 7'0" | C The Steward School | 2021 #27 Nation FL who played AAU ball with him last year. Keels has steadily produced at a high rate in the WCAC since he was a freshman, earning All WCAC accolades the last two seasons and leading Paul VI to the VISAA D1 state championship this year. He’s still growing and developing and he is one of the best all-around two guards that I have seen in VA in my time doing this. He can score from all over the court and scores it in bunches when he gets it going, he moves his feet extremely well defensively and has a good feel on both ends. He’s already one of the most highly touted wings in the country and will continue to see his recruitment pick up moving forward.
