In the 2021 class, several of these names are guys that have impressed us and frankly, it is surprising this is the first time hearing about them. As you will see below, several players come from Southeast/Eastern Ohio as we gave some love to this part of the state due to many of the schools being smaller in exposure and size. Regardless, take a look at some of the newest members of Ohio’s 2021 Rankings.
Owen Nichols Owen Nichols 6'7" | PF Ottawa-Glandorf | 2021 State OH (#72) Ottawa-Glandorf- Nichols is a lengthy Power Forward that utilizes his long arms and strong build on both ends of the floor. Has a nice feel in the post, and can score with a variety of moves. Succeeds in scoring over his shoulder and through contact. Defensively, plays straight up and down and can block a ton of space with his length.
Tony Munos Tony Munos 6'1" | SG Marietta | 2021 OH (#83) Marietta- Munos is a solid SG with decent size and a good handle for the ball. The 6’1 senior-to-be is a little unknown due to where he is located in the state, but he has shown he can really take over a game with his ability to attack off the dribble. Extremely quick crossover and head fake, Munos has such a feel for the defense and can quickly blow by defenders with his speed and ball-handling. Shown an ability as well to hit pull up jumpers in the lane.
Cameron Harrison Cameron Harrison 6'0" | PG National Trail | 2021 State OH (#108) National Trail- Harrison is another player that may not be as known due to his school being so small, but he can play at a very high level as well. Handles defensive pressure, especially traps extremely confidently. Keeps his head on a swivel and creates offense for himself and teammates. Nice jump shooter with a knack for hitting free throw line extended consistently.
Kobe Rodgers Kobe Rodgers 6'3" | SG St. Xavier | 2021 State OH (#133) St. Xavier- One of the Bombers best returning players for 2021, Rodgers is a nice two-way player making differences on the offensive and defensive side of the floor. A proven slasher, Rodgers combines length with power and can finish at a high level in the paint. This makes him a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. Defensively, he has a high IQ and knows where to be at all times. One of the few players that takes pride in being in strong help side position.
Kobe Mitchell Kobe Mitchell 6'3" | PG Harrison Central | 2021 State OH (#135) Harrison Central- One of the most gifted scorers in Eastern Ohio, Mitchell has the potential to score 30+ in a game. At 6’3 his bigger for a guard and demands heavy defensive pressure due to his scoring capabilities.
Colton Vaughn Colton Vaughn 6'4" | PF Eastern Brown | 2021 State OH (#138) Eastern Brown- Scrappy forward for a small school in Southeast Ohio, Vaughn is most known for his defensive pressure and his shot blocking capabilities. A physical interior player, Vaughn elevates and hustles, making him lethal in the paint and on 50/50 balls. His size combined with his hustle makes him a target for D3 schools.
Kyle Sexton Kyle Sexton 6'4" | PF Glenwood | 2021 State OH (#142) Glenwood- The 6’5 Sexton is big for a guard and especially for Southeast Ohio standards. He uses his size to overpower defenders in the paint. Gets in the paint with a quick dribble drive and strong upper body to finish through contact. Has a nice fadeaway jumper that he connects on plenty of times.
