These two division one prospects faced off head to head in this year’s state championship game with Hepburn coming out on top. However, Sallis gets the top spot in our rankings for 2021. 1. Hunter Sallis Hunter Sallis 6'4" | CG Millard North | 2021 State #8 Nation NE
Sallis is one of the top ranked players in the country and the best prospect to come through the state in years. He has freakish athleticism and length that he uses to explode at the rim for powerful dunks and acrobatic layup finishes. He can handle the ball, play any of the guard and wing positions, and create shots for himself at every level. Sallis lead all juniors in scoring this season with an impressive stat line of 22.2 points, 3.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Sallis hold multiple division one offers including Kansas, Oklahoma State, Louisville, UCLA, Nebraska, Creighton, and more.
2. Chucky Hepburn Chucky Hepburn 6'1" | PG Bellevue West | 2021 State #77 Nation NE
Hepburn accomplished just about everything you can hope for as a high school athlete this season. He led his team to the Class A State Championship win and brought home Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Hepburn is a physical and smart point guard that can take control of an offense and affect the game however he is needed. He attacks the rim with aggression, absorbs contacts, and finishes with either hand. He can pick apart defenses with his passing vision, ball handling, or jump shooting. He averaged 17.3 points, 6.5 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game. Hepburn has committed to play at the University of Wisconsin.
3. Ajantae Hogan Ajantae Hogan 6'5" | CG Lincoln Southeast | 2021 State NE
Hogan is a strong and physical combo guard that creates mismatches on the perimeter. He can get to the rim at will; knocking defenders off his path by getting his body into them with strong spin moves and hop steps. He also had good touch in the midrange for stop and pop jump shots. He is an active rebounder on both ends that you have to put a body on or he might come soaring in for a tip slam. Hogan averaged 18.1 points, 2.2 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. He should continue to garner Division 1 interest this summer and through his senior year.
4. Denim Johnson Denim Johnson 6'1" | CG Omaha Central | 2021 State NE
Johnson is an elite level athlete and two way player at the shooting guard position. He is incredibly quick and physical defensively. He moves his feet to stay in front of ball handlers, challenges shots, forces turnovers, and rebounds. He may be the best leaper in the class as well. He gets off the ground quickly to finish monster dunks and rebound above the rim. Johnson stuffed the stat sheet this season, averaging 15.4 points, 4.6 assists, 8.1 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game.
5. Saint Thomas Saint Thomas 6'6" | CG Millard North | 2021 State NE
Thomas has deservingly shot up the rankings due an impressive junior season. After averaging 1 point per game in his sophomore campaign, Saint became one of the toughest matchups in the state this season. He plays with great energy on both ends, can play either forward position, and has next level size and strength. He can stretch the floor with three point shooting ability and hunts for contact around the rim. Thomas has started to catch the attention of some Division 1 programs after averaging 15.8 points, 4.2 assists, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.
