The top stars are announcing their schools and many prospects are coming off the boards. There however remain many available prospects who are still unsigned or undeclared. Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the best available prospects.
Tyree Campbell, Etiwanda, Wing – It is mind boggling to see Tyree Campbell’s name still available on the board. The 6’6″ wing from Etiwanda brings more than just stats to the table. Campbell is a do it all wing who can guard multiple positions and adjust his game offensively to play more than 1 position. This past year he had a lot of minutes at the 3,4, and 5. Campbell showed a lot of toughness and IQ by buying into the system of Head Coach Dave Kleckner and contributing to what the team needed. Campbell can finish around the basket and does a great job of slashing to the rim. He is an athletic finisher who can finish with a fancy layup or dunk. Tyree also has range out to the 3 point line and can consistently hit the deep ball. The defensive end is where Campbell will earn a lot of praise as he does a great job of staying in front of his man and using his wingspan to alter and block shots. Campbell can potentially play at the D1 level and it is astounding to see him on the board and under recruited.
Jayce Catchings, Rancho Christian, Wing – A year removed from being the top scorer in the state of MO, Catchings arrived in Murrieta and immediately made an impact for the Eagles. Catchings brought scoring, slashing, and defense to the floor. He’s a 6’4″ G/F who can contribute in many ways to on the court. He has range out to the 3pt line and also has an affinity for getting to the basket. Catchings is tough and will be a solid addition at all levels.
Amound Anderson, Leuzinger, Combo Guard – Anderson has been one of the best shot makers in SoCal. He has an affinity to get the ball in the hoop and has been a consistent scorer in his career as an Olympian. Anderson also possesses good change of speed and has vision to find his teammates. Anderson was a 4 year varsity player and remains one of the top unsigned/undeclared players in CA
Marland Harris, Westchester, Big – The 6’9″ bigman put his name on the map with his big season at Westchester under Ed Azzam. Harris played a big role in helping the Comets win the LA City Section Open Division Championship. Harris has a big strong frame, and is strong and athletic. His physical attributes give him advantages over other. Harris still has a lot of room to grow and add to his game. If his potential is harnessed, he can be an impact player at the next level.
Evans Kipkemoi, Renaissance Academy, Big – Teams looking for a running rim protector should take a good look at Kipkemoi. The bigman from Renassiance Academy is full of potential. He has size, and length, and does a great job running the floor. Kipkemoi had one of his best performances of the season with a 21 point 16 rebound game in a win over Damien in the playoffs. He’s a threat to dunk anything around the rim and on the other side, swat any shot that goes near him. Kipkemoi finished with all CIF 4AA honors.
