Continue ReadingThe 2019-2020 prep hoops basketball season in Central Louisiana was by far one of, if not the most successful seasons in its decorated hoops history netting 3-State Championship Teams on the girl’s side (Class B-Fairview, Division IV – St. Marys, Division V – University Academy Of Central La.) 1-State Runner-Up (Class C- Plain view) 1 State Semi-Finalist (Class 5-A – Natchitoches Central and 2 State Championship teams on the boys side (Class 5-A -Alexandria Senior High and Class 4-A – Peabody) and 4 State Semi-Finalist teams (Class 2-A – Lakeview, Class B – Pitkin, Class C – Hicks, and Division IV – St. Marys).
Individual recognition and awards comes with Team Success. Many players were deserving but in the end, there could only be a few. I present to you the 2019-2020 All-Cenla and All-State Teams.
College coaches on every level if you are reading this please take note that many of these players are uncommitted, so please take the time to look into some of these deserving players. There is some elite talent here.
2020 All-Cenla Boys First Team
1. Garrett Edwards Garrett Edwards 6'5" | CG Pitkin | 2020 State LA – Pitkin, SR. 6-5. 32 PPG 13 Rebs 5 Assists Per Game
*Ranked 29th all-time in scoring at nationally with a career total of 4,103 points
*Scored A career high of 63 points against rival Hornbeck
*Finishes his career as one of the most efficient scorers in Louisiana High-School History
*Prolific Scorer
*Relentless defender and rebounder
*Does not take plays off
*Class B All-State First Team Selection*
*District 5-B First Team Selection*
*District 5-B MVP*
2. Melvion Flanagan – Peabody, SR. 6-0 (22 PPG 5.1 Assists 5 Rebs 3 Steals Per Game – Uncommitted)
*Consistent shooter netting a 52% clip from the field and a 49% clip from behind the 3 point line making 112 3 pointers for the season
*Shot 85% from the free throw line
*Great ball handler and play maker.
*Scored 31 points (23 in the second half) in the 2020 Class 4A State-Championship Game
*Solid defender
*Makes plays for others
*Clutch player that is not afraid of the moment. Wants the ball in his hands when the pressure is on.

*Can Guard multiple positions.
*Pushed his scoring average to 19.0 Per Game in the playoffs
