WODE run by super motivator Jermaine Seagers runs camps, workouts, and games highlighting some of the best youth talent in the city. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top prospects from the c/o 2024 game.
RJ Whittle 6’6 PF LV Knicks – It has been fun watching Whittle’s development over the last couple of years. He understands what he is, and he plays that role well. A big-bodied banger, Whittle rebounded well in the game. Ceiling for him will depend on continuing to develop his body, and footwork. He will be attending Faith Lutheran next season.
Zach Abdalla 5’11 SG West Coast Elite – Abdalla has a quirky but effective game. Shoots it with his upper body, however, he is accurate. His shooting makes him just enough of a threat to force defenders to close hard to him, at which point he showed enough ability to put the ball on the ground and slash. At the next level, that shot will have to come more from his legs, but he certainly has a promising future.
Anthony Nwuli 6’5 PF LV Panthers – What stands out most about Nwuli is his frame. He already has muscle and definition in his body. He’s a good run and jump athlete that has no problems changing ends of the floor. The development for him will come with adding to his post-game, developing his upper body, and learning how to translate it into basketball plays.
Nick Jefferson 5’9 PG Vegas Elite– It was fun watching Jefferson and Thomas go at it. Good competitor that has a flame thrower attached to his arm. Jefferson has an advanced skill set right now. The biggest question for him is going to be what position he ultimately ends up playing. He will be attending Bishop Gorman next season.
DJ Thomas 5’9 PG West Coast Elite – One of the premier PG’s in the class of 2024 showed up and showed out. Cerebral player with the basketball IQ of a much older player. Kids today may not remember Andrew Lavender, however, if Thomas goes on to be a MacDonald’s AA, and all conference high major college performer then I would call his career a success.
Jordan Cosby 5’9 Vegas Elite Premiere – Had no idea who this kid was, and then he started drilling 3’s. He shot it effortlessly from deep with a quick release and consistent form. He will be attending Spring Valley next season.
Prince Davis 5’9 PG Vegas Elite Premiere – Everytime I watch this kid play, he catches my eye. Jitterbug PG that plays the game with a good pace. Davis does a terrific job of changing speeds and finishes around the rim.
