Don’t be fooled by this small list there are a lot of high level players in the state that will surprise some people but they will preform as expected to others.
6’8 F Ethan Potter Ethan Potter 6'8" | SF Layton | 2021 State #194 Nation UT (Layton High School)
Ethan had a huge breakout year for the Layton Lancers. He put up some great numbers. In his last 3 games he averaged 25 & 11 which is a tough stat line. With a number of graduating players in Region 1 he seems to be the player that will carry the torch when it comes to players that can absolutely play at the next level. Ethan is tenacious and can get up and down the court when possession is changing. With a lot of things he can still work on in the summer Ethan looks to be one of those players that will pick up those local offers from those local D1’s as they see how he can compete on both ends. He could develop into a true stretch 4.
6’8 F Carter Welling Carter Welling 6'10" | PF Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT (Corner Canyon)
Carter is one of those players that has patiently waited his turn. With some college bound players ahead of him when he was a freshman and sophomore including his brother who committed to UC Irvine. Carter is next in-line to make that big jump this summer and have a bigger impact with his length. He is also working on his strength which is what he will need to over power some of the other bigs in 6A that often times are immovable. He only hit 5 three-pointers this past year and he could really be a threat in the pick’n roll with the pop option.
6’5 SF Robert Whaley Robert Whaley 6'5" | PF Bountiful | 2021 State UT (Bountiful High School)
There are players that show up on the scene that can be classified as position-less. Robert is that player. Although he is an undersized SF he knows how to score on bigger players as he showed his skill against one of the best and biggest bigs in 5A last season. He finds ways to finish through contact. He is great on the free-throw line as well. With a developing outside game, look for Robert to continue to add tools to his game to prepare for a solid senior year.
6’1 PG Noa Gonsalves Noa Gonsalves 6'2" | PG Lehi | 2021 State UT (Lehi High School)
Nos is an explosive guard that finds ways to score. He can shoot the ball from deep as he pulls up from way beyond the arc. He plays with a lot of intensity as he is always a threat to get a double-double as a guard and flirt with a triple-double every night. Noa has a chance to make a huge leap when it comes to his stock as a next level point guard.
6’8 Dallin Grant Dallin Grant 6'8" | SF Cedar City | 2021 State #212 Nation UT (Cedar City High School)
The versatile D1 prospect is skilled. He is not a player that just sits down on the block and goes to work. Dallin is the type of player that can roam all over the court. He is special out in the perimeter as he can create his own shot. He can also crash very well from the perimeter and get some extra shots up. Skilled ball handler at his size as well. Looking forward to watching him develop this summer going into his senior year.
6’0 Talon Valdes Talon Valdes 6'0" | PG Juan Diego | 2021 State UT (Juan Diego High School)
When it comes to players adding to their game Talon had a major addition this past year as he was able to shoot the ball with consistency. He was able to pull defenders out to contest as he is able to use his mid-range tool box. Talon has a speed on the breakaway. He will have a successful summer as he preps for his senior year.
