Here is a list of the top shooters that will be taking the playing at the PBA this weekend:
Jared Mattley Jared Mattley 6'1" | CG Papillion-LaVista South | 2020 State NE – Papillion-LaVista South
Currently leading Class A in 3 pointers made, Mattley can get hot at anytime and can make shots from basically anywhere on the court. His ability to shoot from deep will be a huge factor in whether the Titans will advance in the tournament or not. Earlier in the season against Millard North, who is also their first round opponent, Mattley shot 8 for 13 from outside the arc.
Spencer Schomers Spencer Schomers 6'5" | SF Omaha Creighton Prep | 2020 State NE – Creighton Prep
Creighton Prep has always been known as a 3 point shooting school. In the past, normally all 5 guys on the court for the Jr. Jays can make shots from deep and this year is no different. The Northwest Missouri State commit has been excellent from beyond the arc this year, knocking down 53 threes at a 40 percent rate. His biggest one of the year was a buzzer beater that knocked off the #1 Omaha Central Eagles at Prep’s home gym.
Jadin Booth Jadin Booth 6'2" | SG Omaha Westside | 2020 State #453 Nation NE – Omaha Westside
Very similar to Creighton Prep, all 5 guys on the court can hit threes for the Warriors. The current #3 prospect in the 2020 Class is second in Class A in threes made at 65. Booth is a guy that can score from all levels and is an extremely exciting player to watch. This UNO commit will do anything in his power to bring a State Championship back to Westside.
Carl Brown Carl Brown 6'4" | SF Omaha Westside | 2020 State NE – Omaha Westside
Known for his miraculous game-winning shot to send Westside to the State Tournament last year, Brown has taken in a bigger role for the Warriors this year compared to last. Carl is more of a spot-up shooter than anything as about 75% of his shot attempts have came from three. As the opposing team, this is one kid that you can not afford to leave open.
Jay Saunders Jay Saunders 5'11" | CG Omaha South | 2020 State NE – Omaha South
When thinking of the top snipers in the state, Saunders is not a guy that comes to mind for probably anyone. Omaha South isn’t usually known for their shooting but Saunders has knocked down 43 threes at an extremely efficient 47% clip which is good for fourth in Class A. Look for Saunders to lead the Packers to the State Championship as they could become the first team to win back-to-back championships since Omaha Central in 2012-2013.
Latrell Wrightsell Jr Latrell Wrightsell Jr 6'1" | CG Omaha Central | 2020 State NE . – Omaha Central
He may not have the most appealing shooting percentages, but those don’t say how good of a shooter this kid is. Currently holding several Division 1 offers, Wrightsell Jr. can explode for 30 points on any given night, as he has a season-high of 43 which came in February against Omaha Benson. Wrightsell Jr. and the Eagles will look to avenge last years State Championship loss and give the Eagles their first banner since 2013.
Reggie Thomas Reggie Thomas 6'0" | SG Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE – Omaha Westside
A lot like Jay Saunders Jay Saunders 5'11" | CG Omaha South | 2020 State NE , Thomas hasn’t made the most amount of threes but he hits them at a great 42% rate. He only hits 1.5 triples per game, which is still good, but he recently knocked down 5 of 6 bombs to go with 21 points in the district championship vs Papillion-LaVista. If he can shoot like that in the State Tournament, to go along with Jadin Booth Jadin Booth 6'2" | SG Omaha Westside | 2020 State #453 Nation NE and Carl Brown Carl Brown 6'4" | SF Omaha Westside | 2020 State NE , Westside will be really hard to beat.
