Things have been crazy in the world of sports over the last week, but none-the-less, the Regional tournaments are still set to be played on Saturday.  Despite all the uncertainty and the questions that need to be asked and answered, let’s take a look at the best games on the slate for the morning games of the Regional tournaments.

4A

  • Brownsburg vs. Indianapolis Pike – 12:00 – Southport

The top 4A basketball game will feature a rematch from earlier in the season in which Brownsburg prevailed 61-55 just one month ago.  Brownsburg is led by their pair of seniors, Malek Edmonds Malek Edmonds 6'6" | PF Brownsburg | 2020 State IN and Connor Lucas Connor Lucas 6'1" | SG Brownsburg | 2020 State IN , as well as Pierce Thomas Pierce Thomas 6'5" | SG Brownsburg | 2021 State #153 Nation IN , a top 10 player in Indiana’s 2021 class.  Pike is led by senior, Davion Bailey, and junior, Eddie Jones.  These two teams should give us a great down that will come down to the wire.

  • Greenwood vs. Evansville Reitz – 10:00 – Seymour

Greenwood’s inside-out duo of Gavin Dowling Gavin Dowling 6'5" | C Greenwood | 2020 State IN and Brock Kincaid Brock Kincaid Brock Kincaid 6'3" | SG Bloomington South | 2022 State IN has given them one of their best seasons in recent memory, probably since the 2006 season.  The key for Evansville Reitz this season has been Khristian Lander Khristian Lander 6'2" | PG Evansville Reitz | 2021 IN , the 2021 Indiana University commit.  However, they also have two dynamic players in Mar’Quan Givens Mar’Quan Givens 5'11" | PG Evansville Reitz | 2020 State IN and Owen Dease Owen Dease 6'7" | SF Evansville Reitz | 2021 State IN who will play a big part in this Regional.

  • Merrillville vs. Valparaiso – 1:00 – Michigan City

Merrillville and Valparaiso were two of the surprise Sectional winners in 4A by beating Munster and Chesterton.  Nonetheless, they should give us a great game on Saturday.  Merrillville is lead by their duo of juniors, Keon Thompson Keon Thompson Keon Thompson 6'0" | PG Merrillville | 2021 IN and Dorian Harris Dorian Harris 6'0" | PG Merrillville | 2021 State IN .  Valparaiso is led by Brandon Mack and Colton Jones Colton Jones 6'2" | SG Valparaiso | 2021 State IN .  Both of these teams are going to need big efforts and some of their best performances of the season to advance past this weekend.

  • Fort Wayne Snider vs. Marion – 10:00 – Logansport

These two teams met in the final game of the regular season in which we saw Snider come away with an 86-81 victory.  This game should give us more of the same.  Fort Wayne Snider is led by a pair of Rose-Hulman commits, Dillon Duff Dillon Duff 6'5" | SF Fort Wayne Snider | 2020 State IN and Isaac Farnsworth Isaac Farnsworth Isaac Farnsworth 6'3" | SF Fort Wayne Snider | 2020 State IN , as well as a top 15 players in the 2021 class, Michael Eley Michael Eley 6'4" | SG Elevation Prep | 2021 State IN .  Marion lost Jalen Blackmon Jalen Blackmon 6'2" | PG Marion | 2021 State #244 Nation IN to a knee injury early in the season, but they have not let that stop them.  Jakylen Thomas Jakylen Thomas 5'8" | PG Marion | 2020 State IN and Rasheed Jones Rasheed Jones Rasheed Jones 6'5" | SF Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN have been the two guys that have stepped up to help this Giants team.

  • Culver Academy vs. Northridge – 11:00 – Michigan City

Culver Academy is led by a pair of seniors, Trey Galloway Trey Galloway 6'4" | SG Culver Academies | 2020 State #114 Nation IN and Nick Hittle Nick Hittle 6'9" | C Culver Academies | 2020 State IN .  Galloway, the Indiana recruit, has been one of the top players this season, and he is going to be a tough player to stop.  Northridge is led by their duo of Alexander Stauffer Alexander Stauffer 6'8" | C Northridge | 2020 State IN and Sam Smith Sam Smith 6'0" | PG Northridge | 2021 State IN .  This is going to be a tough challenge for Northridge, but they are probably the team that matches up best with Culver in this Regional.

3A

  • Silver Creek vs. Heritage Hills – 10:00 – Washington

This Regional matchup is easily one of the most anticipated of the weekend as it features two of the top three teams in the class.  It is also a rematch of a Hall of Fame Classic matchup in which Silver Creek came out on top 82-78 in overtime.  Heritage Hills is led by Simon Sherry, Murray Becher Murray Becher 6'4" | SF Heritage Hills | 2020 State IN , and Blake Sisley Blake Sisley 6'8" | PF Heritage Hills | 2021 State IN .  Silver Creek is led by juniors Trey Kaufman Trey Kaufman 6'8" | PF Silver Creek | 2021 State #39 Nation IN and Kooper Jacobi Kooper Jacobi Kooper Jacobi 6'6" | PF Silver Creek | 2021 State IN as well as sophomore Brandon Northern.

  • Delta vs. Fort Wayne Leo – 12:00 – New Castle

This game should be highly-competitive, but it is nearly impossible to compare these two teams.  The only similarity in their schedule is 20 point wins over Jay County.  Delta is led by Zach Garner Zach Garner 6'0" | PG Delta | 2020 State IN and Brady Hunt Brady Hunt 6'6" | SF Delta | 2021 IN .  Fort Wayne Leo is led by Andrew Tkacz Andrew Tkacz 6'1" | SG Leo | 2020 State IN and Blake Davison Blake Davison 6'0" | PG Leo | 2021 State IN .  This will be a must-see game this weekend.

  • Greensburg @ Washington – 12:00 – Washington

Washington will be playing on their home floor, but their home-court advantage may be gone.  Nonetheless, this should be an entertaining game.  Greensburg is led by Wright State commit, Andrew Welage Andrew Welage 6'5" | SF Greensburg | 2020 State #371 Nation IN , along with Lane Sparks Lane Sparks Lane Sparks 6'2" | PG Greensburg | 2021 State IN who averaged 29 points per game in the Sectional tournament.  Washington is led by Grant Niehaus who was also named to the 3A All-Sectional team with Sparks of Greensburg.  There will be a lot of talent on the floor for this Regional all together.

  • Norwell vs. NorthWood – 10:00 – New Castle

There isn’t much to compare these teams’ schedules as they only have a common opponent in a 15 victory over Columbia City.  Norwell has a slight advantage in this one, but we should see a competitive game throughout.  Norwell has been led by their senior star, Will Geiger Will Geiger 6'6" | PF Norwell | 2020 State IN .  Ben Vincent and Jason Borkholder have been the leaders for NorthWood this season.

  • Danville vs. Beech Grove – 10:00 – Greencastle

Danville has dominated Beech Grove over the last 20 years winning 10 of their 11 meetings, but Beech Grove will have something to say about that in Greencastle this weekend.  Danville has been led this season by their senior trio of Dillon Ware Dillon Ware Dillon Ware 6'6" | PF Danville | 2020 State IN , Sam Comer Sam Comer 6'5" | SF Danville | 2020 State IN , and Peyton Roof Peyton Roof 6'0" | PG Danville | 2020 State IN .  Beech Grove is led by their senior trio of Vincent Pich Vincent Pich 6'3" | SG Beech Grove | 2020 State IN , Brice Langford Brice Langford 6'8" | C Beech Grove | 2020 State IN , and Isaac Stennett Isaac Stennett 5'11" | PG Beech Grove | 2020 State IN .  These are two veteran teams that will rely on their experience this weekend.
