I like to take a look at my annual “Top-5’s”.
Every player has their 1 skill they usually excel at.
It’s just a fun way to take a look at players’ elite skills in different categories.
We move over to the 13 players who are top-notch glass eaters. These are the players that will give a team only one possession every time down the court with getting essentially every rebound. Very important to winning and losing.
Here are my Top-5:
1. Zereoue Williams Zereoue Williams 6'7" | PF Mountain Pointe | 2021 AZ (Mountain Pointe)
-A beast inside with a football type of build/frame with good hands. He is aggressive to rebound the ball and is one of the better 6A defenders as well. He is my top rebounder with averaging almost 12 rebounds per game.
2. Duke Brennan Duke Brennan 6'10" | C Hillcrest Prep | 2022 State #219 Nation AZ (Perry)
-A bigger post player with wider shoulders and a very high motor just got edged out by Williams. Brennan averaged nearly 10 rebounds per game playing next to a 6’11 player. That is impressive.
3. Grady Lewis Grady Lewis 6'7" | PF Sunnyslope | 2021 State AZ (Sunnyslope)
-One of the stronger AIA players rebounds the ball at a high level with strong arms and athleticism.
4. Daryian Matthews Daryian Matthews 6'5" | PF Dysart | 2021 State AZ (Dysart)
-The smallest player on the list has an off the charts motor to rebound. He has good bounce and uses his length and girth to get the ball.
5. Nicholas Riley Nicholas Riley 6'8" | C Phhoenix Prep | 2022 State AZ (Chandler)
-A strong post player has massive hands to rebound the ball and is a highly efficient scorer.
Next-5:
1. Roy Eze Roy Eze 6'7" | PF Phhoenix Prep | 2020 AZ (Phhoenix Prep)
-Another strong post player is very hard to move for position to rebound the ball. (If he Preps to 2021)
2. Marko Milivojevic Marko Milivojevic 6'11" | C Dream City Christian | 2021 State AZ (Dream City Christian)
-The tallest player on the list has legit NBA Center size. He rebounds in his area with good length.
3. Jaisheldon Yates (Sunrise Mountain)
-The newcomer from Mississippi is a load to deal with down low. He has strong hands to rebound.
4. Demari Hackett Demari Hackett 6'5" | PF Valley Vista | 2021 State AZ (Valley Vista)
-A low post strong bodied rebounder can score it from inside and out.
5. LeRoy Williams LeRoy Williams 6'6" | PF Williams Field | 2021 State AZ (Williams Field)
-A physical under the rim type uses his girth to rebound. He should break out for the Black Hawks next year. (Missed season with the transfer rule)
3-more:
1. Myles Hersha Myles Hersha 6'9" | C SoAZ Vols | 2022 State AZ (Salpointe Catholic)
-A long and lean player keeps the ball high to rebound and outlets. A nice Tucson sleeper.
2. Jake Schleifer Jake Schleifer 6'7" | PF Trivium Prep | 2021 State AZ (Trivium Prep)
-The small school standout can score it plus rebound with some length.
3. Tanner Crawford Tanner Crawford 6'7" | PF Mesa | 2021 State AZ (Mesa)
-A thick post player who rebounds at a good rate in his area and has some springs. He should be very good for the Jackrabbits!
