Tough Call: The toughest section call I had to make anywhere was Lakeville South vs Mayo. Very similar records, Mayo has had the much better February but South had the tougher schedule to face. So I looked at point differential of common opponents and they both played Owatonna and each beat Owatonna by 14 once this year with Mayo beating Owatonna by a score in their other game. Finally I just went with QRF as it was too close and South got the nod.
The other really tough prediction is our 8th ranked team versus our 9th ranked team, Park Center vs Spring Lake Park respectively. They are close but PC gets the nod because they beat the Panthers twice already. So here are the predicted outcomes:
- Lakeville South over Rochester Mayo
- Eden Prairie over Shakopee
- Eastview over Lakeville North
- Park Center over Spring Lake Park
Expected Seedings (we are going 1-8 even though the state stops at 1-5 so no feelings get hurt):
- (1) Eden Prairie vs (8) Cambridge-Isanti
- (2) Hopkins vs (7) Lakeville South
- (3) Eastview vs (6) Maple Grove
- (4) Cretin-Derham Hall vs (5) Park Center
Predicted Saturday State Title Game
Eden Prairie vs ….. honestly it doesn’t matter. Eden Prairie is a nationally ranked team and they are 6-0 vs the projected AAAA state field, 10-0 vs our final AAAA top ten, plus they beat Minnehaha Academy as well. Only four teams played them to a single digit game this year (Hopkins, CDH, Eastview, and Wayzata).
