Catholic Memorial: The six seed has taken a tough road so far this postseason. After a convincing win over New Berlin West, Memorial would go on to play Milwaukee Bay View, a three seed, and Pewaukee, a two-seed. They came out on top in both matchups, and are heading into their toughest test yet in top-seeded New Berlin Eisenhower.
Oconomowoc: All season, Oconomowoc was considered a surprise team in the Classic Eight Conference, so it’s only right that they’ve continued raising eyebrows during the playoffs. They’ve notched wins over Middleton and Madison Memorial this weekend. Their next match will come against Madison East, which will require an explosive performance from Oconomocwoc’s talented frontcourt.
Aquinas: In division four, Aquinas has turned heads with their success as a seven seed. They’ve won three games already this postseason, including a major upset over Regis, a two seed, and Fall-Creek, a six seed. And, as a team that was battle-tested coming out of the Mississippi Valley Conference (which features Onalaska and La Crosse Central), they’re likely to make more noise in the coming weeks.
Brown Deer: The four seed was the only team to knock off a one seed in Regionals. After sidestepping Carmen Northwest, they took Dominican into three overtimes, ultimately beating them by just one point. At 15-9 on the season with a roster laden with high-potential players, Brown Deer is on the borderline of a breakout season and has their sights set on the Sectional Finals.
Honorable Mention:
Menomonee Falls: When the seeding was released, Menomonee Falls’ ranking immediately stood out. As a severely underrated 11 seed, they were bound to give six-seeded Bay Port a tough test. Falls would edge them out by just one point courtesy of 26 points from Seth Trimble Seth Trimble 6'3" | PG Menomonee Falls | 2022 State #50 Nation WI , and despite an eight-point loss to Arrowhead the next day, they deserved recognition for testing two elite programs.
