For the Class of 2022, this upcoming year is a big one. It’s the opportunity to really fine tune and showcase their game, and college offers may start to come in.
1. Max Allen – Heritage Christian
Allen was a major addition this season to the Warriors roster. He arrived from Las Vegas and he’s a solid insider presence. He has good size in the post; a little bit raw still but he clearly has the talent/skills to be a difference maker. Sets good screens to free up teammates. Active defensively, especially around the rim. He has a hand up on every shot. Should be a strong defensive anchor.
2. Jorge Ochoa – La Mirada
Ochoa is a versatile big man, especially on the offensive end. He can play in the paint like a post and he can run the floor like a wing and finish strong at the rim. He has the ability to create his own shot on the perimeter and he can beat his defender off the dribble. Creates contact at the rim and can get himself to the free-throw line. Can shoot from three-point range.
3. Jeremiah Windham – Cleveland
When I first saw Windham play, he looked like he’d be an impact player for Cleveland for the next couple of years. He is strong around the rim. Very athletic and he’s able to finish strong in the paint. He can draw contact at the rim and he can get himself to the free-throw line. Can handle the ball at times in half court sets.
4. Benny Gealer – Rolling Hills Prep
Gealer is a player who has improved every time I’ve watched him play. What stood out the most to me was he outside shooting. He can’t be left open at the three-point line or it’s a near automatic bucker. He’s added to his off the dribble game. He can slash too and draw contact at the rim. Very good perimeter defensive player. Should continue his upward trajectory.
5. Issac Peralta – JSerra (Capistrano)
Peralta may be a smaller guard, but he is a good scorer who plays bigger than his size. He’s sneaky athletic and aggressive on the offensive end. He can shoot well from both midrange and the three-point line. Moves very well without the ball in transition or in the half-court. Extremely hard worker who makes a lot of hustle plays. Could develop into a real combo guard.
