The Comets best player saved his best game of the week for when it mattered the most, delivering a 21-point, 9-rebound and 2-block performance against North Linn in the championship game. A 6-4 sophomore wing with great length and a rapidly developing skill set, he impacts the game on both ends of the floor and contributes across the board for Boyden-Hull. He currently holds offers from South Dakota State and Augustana (SD).

A 6-6 combo forward, Drew looked like he might help lead the Bombers to a major upset win over Norwalk in the semifinals, going for 19 first half points against the Warriors. His 17.7 points a game ranked second in the 3A field, and he showed his ability to score from all three levels throughout the week. , Montezuma (2021)
Stats: 22.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals, 57.5 FG%, 87.5 FT%
Shearer led the 1A tournament in scoring and showed his ability to impact the game across the board by ranking among the leaders in assists and steals as well. He accounted for two of the three highest scoring individual games in the 1A tournament, going for 27 points in the consolation game and 24 points in the quarterfinals.
Gunner Meyer, Wapsie Valley (2022)
Stats: 16.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 55.2 FG%, 60.0 3P%
Meyer arguably helped his stock as much as anyone in the state did last week. A springy 6-4 forward, he provided the highlight of the tournament with his putback dunk in the semifinals, and he had a stretch in the championship game in which he took over, helping lead the Warriors to the state title. His nine made 3s throughout the week led the 1A field.

Stats: 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 60.0 FG%
The other half of Centennial’s talented big man duo, Johnson was highly efficient throughout the week, shooting 60% from the floor and averaging 15 points a game. He runs the floor extremely well, has good hands, touch around the rim and showed the ability to occasionally stretch the floor and knock down 3s.
FOURTH TEAM
Majok Majouk, Sergeant Bluff-Luton (2021)
Stats: 11.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.7 blocks, 1.3 steals, 44.8 FG%
Majouk is rail thin, but a talented player with high upside because of his ability to impact the game in a variety of ways. While he shot just 30.8% from 3 during the week, he showed the ability to knock those shots down. He can pass it, handle it fairly well, and at 6-7 with what appears to be a nearly 7-foot wingspan, he can create some problems on the defensive end of the floor as well.

Stats: 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists
CCA’s leading scorer kept getting better as the week progressed, culminating with his consolation game performance of 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. He knows he’s a limited 3-point shooter, so he doesn’t do much of that, rather choosing to get to the rim and use a solid mid-range game to do his scoring.
Eddie Burgess, Montezuma (2022)
Stats: 14.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.7 blocks, 60.0 FG%, 78.3 FT%
A 6-4 sophomore forward, Burgess pulled down at least 10 rebounds in each of the Braves’ three games. Despite being the biggest player on the Montezuma roster, he also dished out 13 assists on the week, which ranked second among 1A players.
Jaxon Smith, Ankeny (2020)
Stats: 11.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 50.0 3P%, 70.0 FT%
