Shearer led the 1A tournament in scoring and showed his ability to impact the game across the board by ranking among the leaders in assists and steals, as well. Meyer arguably helped his stock as much as anyone, in any class, with his play at State. A springy 6-4 forward, he provided the highlight of the tournament with a put-back dunk in the semifinals, and he had a stretch in the championship game in which he took over, helping lead the Warriors to the state title. His nine made 3s led the tournament in 1A.
Eddie Burgess, Montezuma (2022)
Stats: 14.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.7 blocks, 60.0 FG%, 78.3 FT%
A 6-4 sophomore forward, Burgess pulled down at least 10 rebounds in each of the Braves’ three games. Despite being the biggest player on Montezuma’s roster, he also dished out 13 assists on the week, which ranked second among 1A players.
