Some of these players had “breakout seasons”. This could mean a few different things. Maybe they improved a ton before or during the season, their name had been looked over in the past, or their role increased during the season. We will look at some Finalists and name our 2019-2020 Breakout Player Of The Year for the sophomore class.

FINALISTS
Cooper Craggs Cooper Craggs 6'7" | PF Novi Catholic Central | 2022 State MI (F, Novi Catholic Central)
Craggs showed a ton of upside. He’s a versatile 6’7″ forward that can score and rebound and a high rate.
Will Johnson (CG, Grosse Pointe South)
Johnson is a speedy guard that showed potential for a big future in the game of basketball.
Reichen Lund Reichen Lund 6'6" | CG Linden | 2022 State MI (CG, Linden)
Lund really defined his game over the last year. Reichen is a steady defender and do-it-all contributer, making him a key piece to an outstanding team..
Charles Turner Charles Turner 6'5" | CG University Of Detroit Jesuit And Academy | 2022 State MI (CG, UD Jesuit)
Turner looks like the next great in line at UD Jesuit.
Derrick Voltz Derrick Voltz 6'4" | CG Carrollton | 2022 State MI (CG, Carrollton)
Voltz put himself in the “household name” category this season. Division 1 schools will want to start to take a peek at his game.
Tony Williams Tony Williams 5'6" | PG Parchment | 2022 State MI (PG, Parchment)
Williams put up huge offensive numbers all season.
BREAKOUT PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Terrance Broughton Terrance Broughton 6'0" | PG Cass Tech | 2022 State MI (CG, Romulus)
Broughton sent a message loud and clear this season. He scored easily, but at the same time, proved he’s not just a bucket getter. Broughton can handle the ball and create off the dribble. He’s a solid passer that can put the ball in small spaces. Broughton showed that he can effectively play on or off the ball, either setting the offense or being a valuable second ball handler if needed. He’s a key to the growth of Romulus High School basketball and can expect to leap up the prospect rankings.
