Dakota Reber Dakota Reber 6'6" | SF Wilsonville | 2020 State OR is leading the way and the 6-foot-6, 185-pound forward is looking to go out on top. The senior is still mulling over his college future but along the way he picked up league player of the year honors while helping the Wildcats achieve another undefeated Northwest Oregon Conference mark.
“I haven’t lost (a league game) my whole four years so I wanted to keep that streak alive,” Reber said. “We’ve been working stuff we need to work on and I think we’re getting better and better each game as the season has gone on.”
Reber has definitely done his part on an individual level. Despite battling some injuries during the year, he’d gotten the job done offensively with a more diversified game, hitting outside jumpers but also attacking the basket and finishing at the rim. “I’ve gotten a lot better with the things I’ve been working on, like over the summer I worked on my ball-handling and now that’s solid,” Reber said. “I’ve worked on things I’ll need for the next level.”
Speaking of which, Reber remains uncommitted and schools continue to pursue him hard. In recent weeks he’s picked up his first two Division I scholarship offers from Southern Utah and Incarnate Word. Division II Western Oregon also remains in the forefront as Wilsonville enters the state tournament. “I’m just going to wait and see what happens,” Reber said. “After the season I’ll see what I have and then make a decision.”
With his focus fully on trying to help Wilsonville repeat as 5A state champions, Reber knows that teams such as Churchill, Crater, and Silverton are out there looking to knock them off. “We’ve just got to take it game by game,” Reber said. “Those teams are good but we just have to prepare. If we have the chance to play them it will be a good game I think.”
Reber currently ranks as the #4 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
