But, because that stage was taken away, Prep Hoops Wisconsin caught up with some of the best-uncommitted seniors to give them the platform for exposure that they deserve.
Here are seven of the best unsigned senior prospects in Wisconsin:
Karter Thomas Karter Thomas 6'0" | PG Oshkosh West | 2020 State WI — Oshkosh West — PG
Thomas is still dealing with implications from the knee injury that he suffered at the end of his junior season. The point guard was sidelined for the entire AAU season, which was significant because college coaches were not able to see the point guard play. However, Thomas came back and played very well in his senior season, proving that he made a full recovery. Through 22 games, he averaged 20.5 points per contest in a conference that features many stellar guards.
Thomas said that Missouri St-Louis, North Dakota State, and UW-Oshkosh are currently showing some interest in his talents.
Gerald Gittens Gerald Gittens 6'0" | PG St. John's Military Academy | 2020 State WI — SJNMA — PG
Gittens is the type of prospect that you want on your team. He is a team player who always makes the right play. The point guard stuffed the stat sheet in the 2019-20 season. He averaged 14.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 7.7 assists while leading SJNMA to a 22-2 record.
Gittens updated Prep Hoops WI on his recruitment saying, “[I am getting interest from] MN Crookston, some JUCO and D2 programs.” He also said that he was in contact with some prep schools.
The point guard would be a major coup for any Division Two program. He could also be a sleeper at the D1 level if he can find the right fit.
Gittens said that he is not sure when he will be announcing his commitment.
Delaware Hale Delaware Hale 6'7" | PF Sun Prairie | 2020 State WI — Sun Prairie — SF
Hale had a great career at Sun Prairie. The small forward helped SP to two state appearances while putting up 11 points per game in three seasons.
The small forward is a long, athletic prospect who can impact the game in multiple different ways. He can use his 6-foot-7 frame to throw a wrench in an opposing team’s offensive game plan. On the other side, Hale can use his long arms to finish around the rim and shoot over smaller defenders.
Hale told Prep Hoops Wisconsin that he has been receiving major interest from Trinidad State and Kirkwood. For any D2 or D3 college, Hale would be a steal. The small forward could develop into a really solid college prospect.
Shilo Bowles Shilo Bowles 6'7" | PF West Allis Central | 2020 State WI — West Allis Central — PF
Bowles is a versatile power forward that could become a valuable addition to a college program at any level. During the past AAU season, the power forward helped Wisconsin Rap to championships at the Prep Hoops Summer Challenge and Hard Work Region Finals.
Bowles, who stands at 6-foot-7, could become the perfect stretch four at the next level. He can step behind the three-point line and shoot from outside while also dominating the game in the paint.
The power forward said that he has earned interest from D1, D2, and D3 programs.
Colin Schaefer Colin Schaefer 6'0" | PG Olympus Prep | 2021 NJ — Sun Prairie — PG
Schaefer did a very good job of leading SP during his varsity career. In the 2018-19 season, the point guard led the Cardinals all the way to the Division One state championship game.
Schaefer is a great overall point guard. He can involve teammates while also getting plenty of his own buckets.
The point guard holds scholarship offers from Northern Michigan and Bryant & Stratton. He also said that he was getting interest from Highland community college and Bemidji State. Schaefer is planning on playing AAU and then announcing his commitment.
Jacksun Hamilton Jacksun Hamilton 6'7" | SF La Crosse Logan | 2020 State WI — La Crosse Logan — SF
The MVC conference headlines were dominated by La Crosse Central and Onalaska, but Hamilton quietly had an outstanding season for La Crosse Logan. He put up nearly 20 points per game while also grabbing rebounds at an impressive per game clip.
Hamilton said that he preferred not to list the names of the schools recruiting him at this time. However, he did add that he was gaining attention from schools at all levels.
Jordan Majeed Jordan Majeed 5'11" | PG Beloit Turner | 2020 State WI — Beloit Turner — PG
Majeed may be the best pure scorer on this list. He doesn’t have many of the measurables that college programs are looking for, but Majeed has some quickness and serious skill. He averaged 15 points, 2.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game as a senior.
The point guard is interested in JUCO or post-grad programs.
