Efficient with his touches around the hoop, runs the floor, and is a solid rebounder. Emerging as a post for the Wolverines that has shown flashes this year with developmental upside long term. At his best as a rebounder and rim protector at this stage of his development.
Holmes talked about contributing as a junior for the Wolverines.
“I feel like hard work because since I have grown from sophomore to junior year I learned I need to rebound and get stronger with the ball. That is what was the biggest deal for me. I thought I wasn’t going to be ready for junior year, but I am better now.”
He knows what he needs to do to help his team.
“My biggest role is rebounding and blocking shots. I score when I need to, but rebounding and blocking shots is what I do to help us win games.”
Holmes flashes post moves and is improving his fluidity on the offensive end.
“I feel like that is a big possibility. Tim (Flowers) has helped me a lot. He said I have it in me, but I feel like he has helped me bring it out. My confidence has gone way up.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“I have one offer from Chicago State. I have interest from UIC, Tulsa, and Miami (OH).”
UIC recently had the Simeon big man on campus for an unofficial visit.
“Me and the head coach were talking about how I have contributed to the team. He talked about the atmosphere around campus.”
