Recruiting Report: Michael Whitmore
Michael Whitmore Michael Whitmore 5'9" | PG Woodward Academy | 2020 State GA has the heart of a champion. He played a major role in Woodward Academy’s state championship run this year. At 5’10, Whitmore is quick with the ball in his hands and a pest on defense. As the starting point guard, Whitmore set the tone each night as his energy was infectious towards his teammates. He averaged 7 points, 7 assists, and 4 steals per game. In the state championship game, Whitmore ended with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals. The unsigned senior was truly the unsung hero in their championship run.
Playing alongside 5-star recruit and UNC commit, Walker Kessler Walker Kessler 7'0" | PF Landmark Christian | 2020 State #17 Nation GA , Whitmore embraced his role. He says, “You have to let great players be great. Walker makes plays on all aspects of the game and that’s why he’s so good. Offensively he’s just got to touch it because he just makes great plays.” Throughout the season, Whitmore made the game easy for his teammates, including Kessler, consistently putting them in position for easy scoring opportunities.
Whitmore has big expectations heading into the AAU season. He has received an offer from Maryville College and Navy, Lagrange, and Morehouse have expressed interest. He plans to play this AAU season for Tennessee Bobcats as an unsigned senior and believes he can bring a winning culture to a team at the next level. “I’m a winner. I’m not 6’2 like some of these guys but no one will ever play harder than me.
